Kelsey's new dog bed....

She has bad hips..arthritis. Ever since we took the carpet out a few years ago she is having a hard time finding a comfortable spot to lay. She usually lays on throw rug. We have tried many beds for her. Our living room is small and with all of the kids we have no room to leave a huge bed out for her. So we've been dragging it in and out everynight for her to sleep on. After awhile it stinks and is full of hair. I got so tired of doing all the moving it around and washing it every few days. I saw this and decided to try it. She took to it right away and slept all night on it. I usually hear her and Dudley both walking around during the night to switch spots to sleep. DH got up to check on them a few times to see if they wanted to go out and he said she was sleeping on it everytime he got up. This is made of the kind of mesh that the beach/patio chairs are made of. It supposed to keep her cooler as it's off of the floor/ground and relieve those pressure points for her. Kind of like our sleep number bed...but without the controls! She must have loved it because she slept all night! When I first opened it and set it up yesterday Dudley was the first one to hop up on it....now when Kelsey isn't on it he is! I'm ordering another one today for Dudley. He's not hurting anywhere, but I'm sure he'd appreciate some comfort too......also this can be folded up, it's lightweight and it can be hosed down...no more stinky dog beds! Hooray!

That would be great in our 5th wheel for Charlie where did you get it? We just have one big dog bed here as the puppies sleep with us but during the day Ivy has taken to it. It is cute cuz it is the size for a golden and she is a 8lb....doxie....lOl STacy

I bought one similar to that two years ago to keep on the back porch for Buddy, but I like yours much better. The one we had ( before Luther tore it up ) slid onto the frame the way a curtain slides onto a rod. The last side to put together was quite difficult. Did yours come assembled?

Kelsey looks so sweet in that picture.

Ha! This thread certainly had an unexpected twist. I got to see a baby grow up in the blink of an eye! Suzanne, glad you are enjoying being close to family, but sorry to hear your golden passed away. Back to the topic of dog beds. I highly recommend the Orvis Memory Foam Bolster dog bed. I've had it for a few months and washed it several times. Easy to take apart and put back together. Ho yes, the first couple of nights!! She is from working sheepdog stock from Wales...but the idea of pedigree is laughable. Nonetheless, she is smart. After 9 days, she has got the hang of a dog flap to outside, where she goes to poo (although weeing is still an indoor newspaper number) and we tend to let her romp about the house with a choice of sofas and the end of the bed. Naturally, I tried leaving her downstairs but the heartbreaking whining just seemed wrong for a baby...although I spent several nights on one of the sofas myself. I fear the garden is doomed - it will be almost a month before all her vaccinations allow us to go for walks and by then, watching the gleeful destruction of an agapanthus and a geum yanked out of the beds, I expect a lunar landscape of devastation, especially since she is keen on that sheepdog thing of caching stuff (for later delectation, the muddier, the better). All socks are fair game, including ones stolen from the laundry bin...yep, it is all coming back to me. She knows her name and (more or less) comes when called and it only seems to take a couple of repetitions for stuff to penetrate her little canine brain, so the potential is all there - it is up to us to enable her to utilise it. Forgive the excited waffling, I am knackered and slightly hysterical.

oh wow, nannygoat! talk about getting caught red **handed**!! olivia's teeth are none the worse for wear and i, too, got a good laugh out of it. ya know, it's just "stuff". in the grand scheme of things, "stuff" isn't all that important to me. i mean, i like to have nice "stuff" and i do go to great pains to keep my "stuff" nice but still, it's just "stuff". it doesn't compare to the delight i feel when i see my 9 year old great dane having the time of her life! <3 socks, i had no idea there would be performing pigs in the circus. how funny! my pigs eat pellets specially made for pot bellied pigs. they love fruit of any kind (they will nibble on the rinds but when they get dried up, i toss them over the fence for the coons and possums to finish). they also love anything sweet, most especially marshmallows. lilly takes rimadyl for arthritis and all i have to do is poke the pill into a big marshmallow and it goes right down the hatch. try as i might, i can't get any of them to eat veggies except canned green beans!

The brand I have is by Bowser. This is the bed I have from their website, Chinchilla Faux Fur. It is several years old and washes well. I bought locally at our Hollywood Feed store. If there is a store in your area, I highly recommend (returns are easy for any reason). I also have two of their Crescent Beds.

It did come assembled...just unfold it and it's done! I got it from QVC.....here's the item number. M128968...they come in 3 sizesd. This is the largest one.

Well...it's 10:15 here and she's still in her bed! By now she's up and outside. Her snores are making me crazy and I don't have the heart to wake her and kick her out. I will put her bed out there with her though to keep her off of the cold cement. They kids are getting pretty noisy...she should be waking up soon.

If Kelsey's still sleeping when she usually isn't, that shows you how much more comfortable she is. Good for you, gwanny.

A neighbor has this style of bed for his 2 large dogs. The beds are just behind the driveway gate where they spend their outside time.

Cute bed and cute dog!!! We have one of those discs that look like a thick frisbee from Petsmart. You heat it in a microwave for 5 minutes and it stays hot for hours. When we had an elderly dog, I used to wrap it in her blankets, now my son (9) takes it to bed at night when its cold. Maybe Kelsey would like one too.

Oh I'll have to check that disc out! She is so comfortable on this bed..makes a huge difference for her. I just put her outside and put her bed by the gate in the driveway...that's where she and Dudley lay all day just watching the world go by! She did her "business" ate a little dry food and got comfy again.

He needs a bigger one as he should be able to completely stretch right out when he sleeps, he looks incomfortable with his head not laying down and his back legs squished up.

When our male dog sleeps he stretches right out flat on his side and his head is right down on the couch or bed and he can stretch out his back legs too straight out.

Just a thought is all from what I watched our dogs sleep and how they like to stretch out and put their head straight down on the floor, bed, where ever they are laying down on.
