Grateful that the basic human rights issues for which Martin Luther King, along with many others, stood, worked and championed (and, in many cases, died) are, slowly, being accepted on a more widespread basis, not only in his home country of the United States but in my country, where we have mistreated aboriginals (and continue to do so) and recent immigrants, in wartime and generally - perhaps more subtly in Canada than as blatant as it was earlier in the U.S., but present, none the less.

And that these major issues that will help mankind to get along better are slowly being accepted in various other parts of the world, as well.

That one aspect of the European Union may well be that there won't be another war generated there in the foreseeable future. How can you start a war with people who use the same currency as you do?

Thankful that, at last, the two Koreas are moving even slightly toward a rapprochement - that war, that stopped in the shooting stage 55 years ago this summer, has never yet resulted in peace.

And the division of Korea wasn't of their doing in the first place: it was the doing of the big powers.

The Russians weren't about to have U.S. power sitting on their border.

And the U.S. wasn't willing to have Russian power sitting at the southern tip of Korea, a short distance across the water from their new vassal, Japan.

It's a wonder that the Koreans don't hate the ground that Russians and U.S. people walk on.

Can you imagine some world agency dividing the U.S. down the Mississippi - no cars, trucks, buses, trains, even walkers to cross? No mail, phone calls or other means of connection, either?

How would U.S. people react to such a circumstance as that?

Or people of most other nations, either, for that matter - not to single out the U.S., though their government at the end of World War II was a major party to the Korean agreement.

Let us all commit ourselves to building bridges between people, rather than killing them ... or cutting the economic ground from under their feet.

As many world leaders, plus my boss once said, "Love your neighbour as yourself!!".

(But, should you be male ... not your neighbour's wife!)

After reading Rita's post, I suppose I should be grateful that I have a high tolerance for untidiness, but that would be stretching it. A happy medium would be nice. . . . .

This morning I'm grateful for my To Do list. Energy comes from knowing what to do.

We have a Bachelor Friend who is coming for a visit this morning while his maid cleans his house. LOL! So, I had to get up early and clean my house for his visit.

I am grateful to have friends that enjoy our company.

I am grateful that I am feeling well today! I have been battling a cold for over a week. I have to be so careful when I do have a cold so it doesn't end up in my lungs. I become a real baby and really pamper myself. Thank goodness DH has seen how it can affect me, so he is very good.

Also grateful it is 7° ABOVE zero this morning!! It is snowing like mad, but it is warmer.

Im greatful that my son is coming home today after being away for 13 years.We have only seen him twice in all that time.Now he is moving back to Missouri to STAY!!

Happy Anniversary to me!! Married 42 years ago today....who said it wouldn't last? :))

Also, today my 61 year old husband started school, training for a new job...gratitude that he has the guts to do something like this, when most people are thinking about retiring.

I am thankful that I am married to a man who has GREAT parents!! My inlaws bought me a whole room full of furniture this past weekend and its being delivered today!!

I am Blessed.

I am grateful that it is snowing today and, like Sandy said, it is ABOVE zero. I am also grateful that I have a warm, cozy house and can afford to pay to keep it toasty. I love to sit in the house and watch it snow.

I have so much to be thankful for today. We had a health scare in the family this weekend and it looks like everything is going to be OK.

I'm grateful that I still have my mom. Took her "supplies" today - quilt batting and pink and white gingham for baby quilts, four new books to read and some chicken pot pies! LOL

Saw my ExMIL in WalMart today. Glad that her DD was with her helping her buy groceries. I worry that she has to do a lot of things for herself that she doesn't feel like doing. Also grateful that I still have her in my life.

They're the two people in the world who probably love my kids as much as I do and I know how special both "Mamaws" are!

I am still working (after nearly 12 hours) and I have a few hours left to go today.
