oil forced air question

After much reading here about replacing my heat pump I think I found out I could get an oil furnace. We had oil in our prior home. We enjoyed the warmth of hot water basedboard. In our current home that is not an option...we have vents thru the house. Is an oil furnace practical in our situation? I assume it would connect to our existing duct work? I assume the AC could be connected at the same time? I guess I'd need the furnace AND a new AC unit? Is any of this practical? Folks claim oil is still cheaper than electric but so far my larger home with its 20 year old hp is costing less with electric than my other smaller home with oil. Still I'd think oil is warmer. Before I call for another round of estimates, does anyone have any practical experience with this. What eqipment would I be looking at and approx what would it cost. I am looking at $6.4K now for the new hp. If I am looking at 10K or something for an oil furnace and new ac that would seem prohibitive....
