Premium? Each source will have their own proprietary names. One I'm familiar with shows cost at $ 15.52 square foor(SF) for 9 inch(95% heart)six rings per inch. They call that one a select grade. Getting into vertical grain I don't see anything over 5 1/4" being available and these folks have been in the business since the seventies. Over $20.00 SF for clear vertical. Expect to pay much more from an actual dealer.

Going one step further you can get river recovered heart pine with cost at an extra $2 - $ 10.00 per SF. Heart Pine is a tricky business if you don't do your homework. I won't name names but some may not deliver the actual goods that you may be desiring.

I realize premium is just the "name" the company I have been looking at calls their "more select" heart pine. I haven't done alot of research on the heart pine but this company is a realiable one that people in the area have dealt with and had great results. I'm just don't want to get taken advantage of with the cost b/c I haven't done a ton of homework on it.

I am using 'reclaimed heart pine' in my new home downstairs and 'new' heart pine in the upstairs. I am getting mine from Rob at Timberknee. I used them 3 years ago when I built a lake home and used the yellow birch. You can see my pictures on their website under the yellow birch pictures. I was so thrilled that I am using them again. Their quote on the reclaimed was about 30% less than their competition. Hope this helps.
