Visited Kitchenaide Experience in Greenville

Its about an hour away from me and I had another reason to go to Greenville.

Its not as big as I thought it would be. They had a little bit of everything, mixers in all their colors - the new greens are something!

They had pretty much all the accessory heads for mixers which was kind of cool.

Downstairs they have a mini "museum" that is basically a walk around the wall of the room where they have several mixers and mixer accessories from each decade on display back to....1920? 1930? Plus they had a cast iron bakers rack that was set up as a little tribute to Julia Child with the original cobalt blue 5qt she used on her show.

In the basement is also where they have refurbished machines on sale. I was hoping for some big room with dusty old Hobart era ones but of course that was not the case:(

They were having some sort of trade in trade up sale and I was wondering what DO they do with any truly older machines? The one woman I asked didn't seem to know. That would worthwhile if anyone actually did trade one in.

They had 5 qt tilt heads for 199. an't remember the price for the bigger ones. Plus blenders etc.

Upstairs they were having a pretty good sale on hand mixers that they had done for QVC and not all of them sold. they came with the accessory pack of several different types of mixer things.

I'm sitting here sort of regretting not buying a 7 speed that comes with dough hooks. I have the standard old sunbeam with the standard old 4 sided oval hooks. But...its just me and I'm already fat how much can I really cook to use this stuff? I bought a new oven temperature gage and a balloon whisk.

Anyway it was sort of fun but not as big an experience as I thought it would be. Its a cute town. There is a mill that grinds flours just outside of town and I stopped there too. Found out some organic farm near Troy is now growing Spelt. Guess that's the new big thing.
