Don't anyone pass out in shock *grin* but I am so grateful to GW for "cleaning up" some recent threads that were badly derailed. Moderating a forum means making some hard decisions, and moderators will always be unpopular with someone... For now, I'm glad they did what needed done. (I'm also grateful for whomever asked them to do it!)

LOL Guess I missed those threads....for the better anyways..as those upset me....I am GRATEFUL to already doing better after my first surgery and know that after the next one I will feel like a new woman....and gratefulfor all my friends here who thought of me and sent prayers and healing thoughts...Stacy

Morning! I'm grateful for lots of things this morning- a nice warm fire in the wood stove, the fact that it's Thursday and I've got big fun plans for a long weekend with girlfriends that involves a road trip (woo-hoo) and lots of laughs and the fact that my husband will hold down the fort while I'm gone.

I'm also grateful for moderators, Rita. It helps keeps the commotion down to a dull roar, most of the time. The KT is supposed to be a fun place to visit with people, not a slug-fest. I blame daytime TV for a lot of it, I think watching all the junk that's on just annoys some people and gets their dander up and then they want to take it out on others. I gave it all up about 6 years ago. I don't miss it at all.

Stacy, I'm glad to hear you're doing OK. Keep that up!

Reminds me that the neighborhood dogs that most intimidate mine aren't the big ones, but the small yappy ones. And Marda, the thought of President Eisenhower, in comparison to the politicians we deal with today just makes me almost unbearably nostalgic, although I realize that that nostalgia is probably more than a little coated in fuzzy sentimentality.

Sounds like fun - what book? Do you have a fireplace? We are having a cold north wind, too; only here when we have a cold north wind, it only gets down to 60. You mentioned the weather, and yes, it's been wonderful - exactly the kind of weather I came here for, except it's a little too chilly at night in the winter, but I have a heater that I run when it's too cold. I've been interested in virtual worlds ever since I saw the movie, Tron. Right now my virtual reality worlds include Second Life, OpenSim, and The Sims2, which my granddaughters gave me for Christmas. I'm glad for it as they play it and it will give us more to talk about. Today, I'm giving two links to a couple of pictures of Sims2 that I put up on Photobucket. copy and past the address into the browser window: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/explorer/The%20Sims/Sims02copy.jpg and http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/explorer/The%20Sims/Sims01copy.jpg The avatars, or computer-represented people, can walk around in the picture. It's sort of like an interactive movie. They do things, but the player can influence their choices. The second image is of Cassandra Goth and Peter Halliwell. They moved in together and are having a baby soon. I built and furnished the house they are living in. I love building and creating - virtual 3D art. I've put a copy of the first link below in the useful link box. Tomorrow I'll put up some pics of OpenSim or Second Life. In those I have virtual galleries. I'm still working on art in first life, too. And of course for virtual worlds, there is always meditation and painting :) Cyan Co. who created Uru that I played for several years are releasing the code to the fans, so that will be available again soon, too. At least I'm hoping so. In first life, I'm working on my art and trying to get an exhibit ready for the hospital here and maybe for one of the galleries. I get very tired and sometimes discouraged, but still going :) BJ, I'm glad you like the cards. I'll try to get those up on a site soon so others can see them, too. That's all I can write today, but I'll try to get back more and be more involved again. I work on my eating, too, and maybe will share that. Good Thursday all, It is a beautiful crystal clear day. AND it's warmer than it's been in a while. 21 degrees for morning chores which feels so warm. We too are supposed to get a touch of January thaw here today and tomorrow. I am watching Mr. & Mrs. Cardinal at the bird feeder outside my office window...love is definitely in the air. I have two male turkeys in the flock that visits me in the winter and they are both fanning and talking. The grey squirrels are cavorting outside now and will be mating soon. I love this confirmation that spring is truly around the corner even when it's snowy, icy and freezing! The days are noticeably a little longer at at both ends now too. Tikanis you definitely need to schedule a just me day every week! I am leaving tomorrow morning for Augusta, Maine for a horseman's conference for the weekend. I will be getting a major horse fix AND I have scheduled a massage for myself at the terrific spa that is at my hotel. I want to try to rid my body of the toxins from the pneumonia. I can't wait. I am going with two girlfriends so we should have a good time. I have a feeling there is a lobster or two in my future! When in Maine one simply must indulge in all of the lobster they can possibly eat! It's a well known fact that it is better in Maine than anywhere else! Dee, why is the fox at your window? Is someone feeding him? Does your fox look like my fox?? What a gift for you. I hope you enjoy watching him/her. QOD: Did anyone who made the mug cakes for gifts get reviews yet?? I have gotten a rave from each niece/nephew that received them! It was a good one and a keeper to give again.

I guess I missed those threads too.
This morning I'm grateful for a warm and cozy home. It's 9 outside and that's the high for the day already. By Sat. the low will be -15 and the high -1 with windchills around -40.
I'm grateful, too, for having stumbled across the kt last summer and making a bunch of new friends.

I'm grateful that I got the idea to let Princeton (see my photo in today's picture thread) have 24-hour access to my bedroom. It has given him some much-needed peace from attacks by Annie the Incessant. I've had to invest in some heavy-duty lint rollers for my bed (Prince Tony, as I call him, is a longhair), but that's a small price to pay.

And with a winter storm predicted to begin this afternoon, I'm grateful that I have the option to stay home.

I'm grateful that DH is controlling his glucose levels so well w/ diet. It's been a shock to him to give up his favorite foods, but the threat of diabetes got his attention. So far, so good!

Today I am thankful for modern medical technology!
I am thankful that Steph is having my 'grandchillin' planted today. I call them grandchillin because, afterall, they are frozen! LOL
Stacy keep feeling better!! Just hang in there and you'll feel like your old self again soon.

I'm grateful that I'm going on a lunch outing this afternoon with 4 girl friends. I've posted this before, but we've been getting together once a month since 1995 when our kids were all juniors in high school and we were involved in the home and school association. It's always a nice get together.

I am grateful for all the things I have been blessed with... my cozy home, friends, family, a cat. I am also grateful for my crockpot, which is about to be filled with chicken, tomatoes, assorted veggies, in order to be soup tonight! It is one of those gray chilly days here and soup sounds wonderful.
