Gosh no. I sleep in a second bedroom. Window is open, with a fan in it, 365 nights a year! Even below zero weather. Hubby has a rolled up towel under the outside of the door to keep my deep freeze contained to my room. LOL
I have one, light, (microfiber?) blanket, and I still spend all night kicking it off, scrambling to find it again, kicking it off, scrambling to find it again ...
He has flannel sheets, blanket and a comforter on his bed, and a space heater going. I would die!

I have what was labeled as a "warming blanket ". It's an electric blankie with very fine wires, barely perceptible by hand. It doesn't get hot, like its heftier cousin, but does a perfect job of taking the nip out of a cold bedroom.

I usually end up turning it off in the middle of the night, as well. But I sure appreciate it when I use it. We've had single digit temperatures here in northern Alabama!

Yes! I turn it on high about 15 minutes before I go to bed, then crawl into a toasty warm bed, turn it off, read for 30 minutes and go off to sleep - wonderful!

Used to have one, but it broke . The blanket stayed whole but the wiring died. So I now use two big blankets when it's cold.

No, I used to use an electric mattress pad and liked that much better, but I don't even use that anymore. I don't sleep in a heated room.

We have an electric mattress cover. My hubby likes it much colder then I do. I turn it on 5 for a little while before I go to bed then turn it down on 2. We have one on our bed at our other house and hubby knew how much I loved it. He got me this one for Christmas. I love it. I can't sleep if I am cold.

I love having an electric blanket these days. Haven't had one for years until a couple years ago when I was being so cold at night I couldn't get to sleep for a long time. I'm planning on getting a heated mattress pad though in place of the blanket. Guess our thermostats change as we age.

I love my heated mattress pad. I turn it up high a little while before going to bed and then turn one side down very low and the side my feet will be on is set warmer. I can't sleep if my feet are cold. I keep my bedroom cool.

I have an electric throw..it's on top of my side.
No heat in our rooms..hubby runs hot..

My throw goes on high just before bed, then shuts itself off in a few hours.

We have one. I turn it on maybe an hour before we go to bed to get it nice and warm, and turn it off when I get in. For some reason, it seems like I can feel the electric current if it is on while I am in the bed.

Thanks to menopause I don't need an additional source for heat :( I sleep with a fan and the window open 365. DH sleeps next to me layered with 3 blankets, a comforter and a 95 lb black lab draped over him. He's quite toasty!

I just bought electric blankets this year for the first time. I got the Sunbeam plush that they sold at Walmart and gave one to each of the grands as we live in cold New England. I can't tell you how much I love mine. The plush is so cuddly. With this cold snap it's been wonderful. I put it on five a half hour before I go to bed and get in to a warm cocoon of yummy. All the grands love theirs too. It's funny to hear a 19 year old talking about his electric blanket with such enthusiasm lol.

Nope. Had one years ago. My bedroom is COLD. Window is opened all year even in this zero weather. Door is closed. I have my shabby sheet cozy blanket, my Ralph Lauren comforter, and then another fluffy comforter on top. Sheets are freezing when I get in but I love my cocoon. I HATE sleeping in the summer even with the AC.

I love my electric blanket. We don't use it on the bed because there it's toasty with our down duvet and an extra blanket. I can't sleep if my feet are cold either. I use the electric blanket in our cool living room when I'm reading or watching TV. It has been delicious through the extreme frigid cold we've been having this winter.

No electric blankets for us. We do sleep in separate rooms, he with his window cracked and me with mine closed and a top sheet,blanket and 2 fleece blankets on top of that. Maybe an afghan if needed.

I prefer an electric mattress pad, but I didn't put it on the mattress this winter because my bedroom is above the woodstove and that gives me more than enough heat.

The other night, though, I was wishing I had the heated mattress pad. I was out until almost 1:00 a.m., and the woodstove fire burned down. When I got home the house was chilly and my room was worse than chilly. I warmed up a couple of microwavable rice (or something) bags and stuck them under the covers.

No, I sleep hot so usually don't have any blankets on me during the night. I keep a small fan on me and we have a ceiling fan on constantly, plus I have a stand fan in the room on. I have sheets on the bed and a matelasse bedspread on year round. If it's really cold my husband adds a blanket or throw over his side. He does have a plush electric throw he uses in his recliner at times. Now if we had the drastically cold weather some of you are having I am sure we might be using more blankets or more likely a down comforter. When we lived in Denver we loved our down comforters, but I was much younger, the hot flashes were not a part of my life yet. I love down because it's warm but so light weight, I don't like the weight of stuff on top of me.

My mother gave us a king size electric blanket with two separate controls...oh, my, probably forty years ago.

DH seldom used his side. I put it on DS's bed when he moved himself (and his stereo) into a poorly heated room next to our garage.

I still have my half. It's under the mattress pad on my side of our king bed. I start warming the bed when I get undressed; turn it off sometime during the night.

We always have a bedroom window open a little bit. In winter we have top sheet, medium weight blanket, duvet.

No, there's just something about a heated blanket full of wires on my bed that scares the begeebies out of me. I have a down filled duvet, wool blanket and a thick polyester blanket on my bed. If it gets really cold outside, I throw an afghan across the top. We turn the heat right down at night, no matter how cold it is outside. The blankets keep us really toasty. I usually wake up sweating, while the house itself is chilly.

Had one several years ago, used to enjoy it, haven't used it in years. I think that's it's still around here, somewhere, in a box.

Wouldn't the electric mattress pads be somewhat short-lived, what with all of those weighty bodies thrashing around on top of them, every night?

When one has several blankets over one, the secret to avoid that weighted-down feeling is to roll one way just after entry, to move the edge of the blankets on the back side closer to you and away from the edge of the bed (or less hung over, if you prefer) ... then roll the other, to do the same with the edge of the blanket on the other side. That makes a tube for your body, with the blankets close beside your body at the mattress level on each side, and they hold themselves up better.

That procedure works best when one is sleeping alone.

For a few years I've kept the ambient temperature in the house in the low 60s F. ... but guess I'm getting a bit self-indulgent with age, as I've kept the temp in the higher 60s F. this year. I've called the oil delivery people when I need oil, as they'd deliver on the automatic plan when I still had 1/4 of a tank left.

On the recent delivery, there was no slip left in the door ... so I had to check the float on the tank. Guess I'll have to call the company to find out how much I owe them ... or wait for the bill. Maybe that being able to avoid facing the evil day is having an effect on the level of heat that I'm choosing in the house?

I'm rarely ever cold and live in a temperate climate, so I have no need of an electric blanket. In fact, I rarely need a blanket at all.

Since the bedroom I sleep in is colder then the other bedrooms, I got one when we purchased the new bedroom set.

I love it. It has dual controls, so I usually set both at high for at least 20 minutes before going to bed, then turn one down to 4 and the other to 7. I tend to roll around a lot, but I also get very hot at night. So the 4 is fine, but the 7 keeps me warm if I roll to that side.

Love my electric blanket. We had a very nice queen sized one with dual controls for the house and a full size with a single controller for our camper. Since my husband passed and I sold the camper I use the single control one on my bed in the house. I gave the dual control one to my son and his wife and they love it.
It has been very cold here in NW Pennsylvania, and my son lives in New York near Lake Ontario , very cold there also.

I love my electric blanket, I couldn't make it without one.
I have the control right above the bed so I can turn it on & off with ease.
