I haven't even looked at a WS catalog or the site in a long time. No point. LOL
But I do have a C&B catalog that I covet..there are alot of little things I'd like to have! However I NEED a 12" atleast family size lidded skillet in Stainless. And a really nice sharp chef's knife..my Chicago that's 15 years old is just not holding a sharp edge anylonger.

I have coveted this platter for years. Now, they have the soup tureen to further tempt me. I have no use for another platter or tureen & these match no other serveware I own yet every time I get a new catalogue the first thing I look for is this platter!

Sherry, I do have several WS stores close by and I do have a WS gift card. I have gone three times since Christmas but I just can't find that one fantasy item--there are so many! I want a Breville blender but I would have to come up with considerable $$ to purchase it.

Let's just say that someone gave you a gift certificate to Williams Sonoma.

You're killing me! That long list of yours -- I hope the person who gives you that GC realizes that you need it to be for about $1500. LOL!

I try to stay away from these stores WS, Crate & Barrel, etc. because they're just too awfully tempting. C&B send me their catalog and the store is 5 min from work. EEEK

I daren't come up with any wish lists for these kinds of places, that sort of list is apt to get me in trouble as I begin to feel the need to scratch out the items on it.

I just sneer when I go into WS stores....it all seems so "precious"...for consumers....so out there....so for people who don't really cook.
But get me into one of those discount mall kitchen stores where they have the copper pans marked down 20% and the line ups of stainless clad bottom stock pots for $50 to $80 and I start to pant....get me into Kohls with a 30% off coupon in my hand and walk me past the Waechestersbach display and I hyperventilate!
I even drool at flea markets! When I was in florida last month, my friend and I went to a flea market....and I came close to ditching my carry on and packing my undies in a huge clad stainless stock pot...I am sure it would have fit into the over head bin and with a roller skate on the bottom and a piece of rope it could have been a "roll-abord"...
But I held strong!!

Linda, I see where you're coming from and agree with you on one point - they are over priced. I received money for Christmas, and spent it at WS on a pizza stone, a pastry bag kit (which I have yet to use) and something else I can't remember. I had a lot of fun drooling over everything, trying to decide how to spend my money. I think the only reason I went there was because it was "free" money. However, a few weeks ago I was at our local restaurant supply store, and saw the pastry bags for much less (surprise, right?) and felt a little bit of buyer's remorse, but not too much.

Maybe the store is for non-cook posers, but I think real cooks like to shop there, too. In my case, it's always a pleasure because the staff is so helpful. I went to Sur La Table (If that's the correct name) to spend a gift certificate, and the staff couldn't have been less interested in me as a customer. They never once asked if I needed help. They only showed interest when I was ready to pay. At WS, the staff practically fall over each other to help out. For novice cooks like me, it helps to have someone that knows what they're doing help me pick out just the right tool or gadget for the job. I like their beautiful displays. I know they are well planned out to entice me to buy, buy, buy, but it doesn't bother me cause I'm aware of what they are doing. I admire the artistry of their presentation.

I'm not aware of the kind of kitchen discount stores you described, Linda - the ones in the malls? I've never seen a store like that. Maybe they don't have them in Texas. If I want something cheap, I go to Target or Walmart or the restaurant supply store. Ikea is too far away, especially at the price of gas these days.

What's on my wish list? I really don't know. I don't have space for any more stuff. I would like some Le Cruset, but I've lived a long time without it, and don't really need it. I wouldn't know where to put anything else.

I don't go to the REAL Wm Sonoma store, just the outlet. They have great sales..I got a pan for 7 that I see in their catalog for 35...just have to hit it right...sometimes bags full, other times, nothing!
Last week I got this Euro Linen/cotton blend sham, on sale, then 70 off, 3.00. I took it apart and I am going to make placemats and napkins...someday!
I also got the placemats in this pic for I think 80 cents...
And Lions head bowls, 50 % off. 2.50.And this thin glass dessert bowl was orig 11, and I got it for less than 3...pretty for jelly beans!
.Really ,even in the outlet some stuff is overpriced, and the next week they have it 60% off...so you have to wait them out, and go often!

Kathleen, you are mean...WS outlet store. How I wish I had one here.

Sherry, if you want a rolling mincer, you can have mine. I found it useless, I am faster and better with a good sharp knife. Panini press? Wrap some bricks in foil and use those on a good grill pan. Frittata pan with the hinges? Place a large dinner plate or pan lid and flip it. It takes some practise but the joy when you realize you have mastered it is boundless. And I love my gadgets and gizmos..

Now about those copper pots with the acorn...if I ever win the lottery, those are mine. Plus the help to polish them.

I'm sorry Peppi.., I don't mean to be mean.. LOL. It's 50 min away, but I try to get there every other week..
And I agree..the most used thing in my kitchen is a 99 cent plastic collander with a handle. And it is at least 10 yrs old!!

Peppi, I am NOT wrapping bricks (which I don't have ) and putting them on a grill pan (which I don't have). I want a panini press!

Sally, Maybe Linda is referring to the stores at the outlet malls like Kitchen Collection, Le Creuset, and Le Gourmet Chef. I love to browse those although I would really love a WS outlet.

Linda, Which flea market did you go to when you were here?

Twist my arm, I'll find something I want at WS. I'd start with some of those double walled glasses, then check out the toasters ( mine is ready to bite the big one).. I'm always on the hunt for placemats.... and I have really been wanting to collect some unusual white dishes.....

The frittata pan sounds good to me, but I would use it to make German Apple Pancakes instead of frittatas, although I might make those once in a while also. I really don't have room for the pans that I have now, not to mention the other stuff. I have to store some of my equipment in the garage. I'm trying to cut down.

I love W-S and I cook, you can sneer all you want, but I get a really nice gift card for W-S every summer and I have a lot of fun using it up! and now that I know where the outlet is, maybe this summer Kathleen will shop the sales with me and show me how to get the most bang for my buck there. I just shopped Kohl's with a 30% coupon and free shipping and got two really nice commercial nonstick pans for a lot less than what I paid at the restaurant supply. I like to shop for kitchen things, doesn't matter where :)

I have no idea what flea market we went to...it wasn't far from Sarasota, and was only open on Wednesday and Thursday....and I narrowly talked my friend out of buying a matched set of zebra striped luggage, trimmed with red, so she would recognize her bags rolling on the conveyor when she goes to London later this month! I told her to save her money and tie a ribbon on her bag....save the $$ for a chunk of stilton!
I've made lots and lots of fritattas and never had a fritatta pan...I just use a Le Cruset skillet.
And a Le Cruset skillet also works as a panini press.....and you can fry eggs in it too!

Oh yes, Carol, I will show you around. Too bad Mikassa, Noritake, and some of the other places are gone. PB and WMSonoma are in the same store...I am sorry I missed that Kohl's sale. I didn't have time to open the credit card to get the 30 off. They have great sales too...

I'm sure I could find something at WS, there's one in Grand Rapids that I wander through whenever I get the chance but seldom buy because it's so expensive. Maybe really good knives, and I bought my farm animal waffle iron there when they finally went on clearance.

Elery left some of that copper cookware with the acorns here, but I never use them, they're too pretty, LOL. I'd love to have a couple more Calphalon hard anodized things, I love the 8 quart pot I use for jam and the 2 quart saucepan. I don't like the "everyday" pan with those two stupid handles on the sides, who the heck thought of that? I can't pick the blasted thing up and pour stuff out of it without burning myself. I asked that question a couple of times here and never got an answer, so I didn't buy one. That didn't stop Elery, though. He doesn't like it either, which is why it's here with me. Unused.

As for the Le Crueset, I've never really wanted any. Elery has a couple of pieces and they're OK, but I still prefer my Lodge cast iron dutch oven, made right here in America.

Never been to Sur La Table or Ikea or even Homegoods. I love Crate and Barrel in Chicago but I always take the train and I know I'd never get items back unbroken. Never been to a Kitchen Collection or Dansk outlet either. Iunderstand there's a Pfaltzgraf outlet in HOlland, about an hour and a half from me, but I've not been there yet either.

I would start with their huge slow cooker and the large hammered copper stockpot ; they make their displays so visually attractive, I have as much fun going there as I have going to art galleries. It's retail therapy for me.

I love the recipe section of their website, it's really worth a browse.

Annie, there is a very nice Pfaltzgraf store in the Holland outlet mall. I picked up all my Empire Red dishes there for under a $1.00 a piece. There is also a Kitchen Collection store there that I frequent (15 min. drive for me) Problem with that outlet mall is that those 2 stores and the Gap, Reebok, Carters, and Eddie Bauer are the only ones that have lasted. The mall ownership has changed so many times that there's more empty stores than filled. Now there starting to fill up with Realators and what not. Come down sometime and we can go dinking (that's what we call shopping for something that we really don't need but has a great price) Downtown Holland has some really neat shops in it now too.

I would get this, which is probably good that I don't have it. It's one of those super-duper ice-cream makers with the build in refrigeration unit.

And a bunch of these...they're really good baking pans. I have a few; they're expensive (duh!) but have always been out of this world for baking.

I'm going to have to look into whether there's an outlet in the Dallas area. I know some of the towns surrounding Dallas have some outlet malls, but they'd be a long drive for me. I'll check to see if there's a WS or any of the other stores mentioned above. I've never heard of Kitchen Collection. Maybe that's a good thing, lol.

I love William Sonoma and I really cook. If I bought much there I would feel really guilty because I'm so frugal. Oh for a WS Outlet! I want that Provence Platter and Tureen!
