We only buy the pre-cooked bacon - no particular brand - just tastes better to us, and there's no grease to deal with.

The last bacon I bought was from Schwan's and it was very good. Thick cut. I like Schwan's, but they are a little pricey.

I like the bacion from a local meat store-they call it 'Indiana' bacon. DH likes Boarshead.

Oscar Meyer when it is on sale. I buy several packages and freeze two slices together on a cookie sheet then put in a zip-lock bag.

Gwaltney, but it's likely an east of the Mississippi company. They're based in Smitfield, Virginia. We get it here in Tennessee. And it is good. Especially the applewood thick cut.

Local butcher, low sodium

(never heard of Gwaltney, and I am east of the Mississippi too - but up North)

I like the Wal-Mart store brand a lot....It always seems to be meatier that the other brands on the cheaper side...Good quality in the regular or low sodium. Of course I always check it to make sure it is a good package...

I get the hickory-smoked bacon at the local Amish market--it's not packaged, they weigh out what you want. When I get home, I package it in meal-sized portions and freeze.

I buy the thick-cut when I can find it.

I get the Kirkland brand bacon at Costco. It is very good. They have regular slice and thick slice is available too.

South and east of the Mississippi?

I buy the big packs of pre cooked bacon at Costco I think it's Armour and freeze it.

I buy the precooked also. Walmart or Oscar Myer. I think you get just as much bacon in these packs.
Since I only use 1 piece at a time it works for me.

Oddly enough, the WalMart brand bacon is our favorite. It tastes like bacon used to which some doesn't anymore.

I get Oscar Mayer center-cut for us, buy a few packages on sale and freeze when the price is right. Regular or thick cut, whichever is on the shelf.

I don't buy it for us with the way bacon prices have risen in the last few months, but I do take my mother a package/box of Hormel microwave-ready-to-cook bacon every few weeks, she'll use it if I buy it but won't buy it herself :)

We like Smithfield bacon. The slices are just right. Not thin and not thick. Used to always use Oscar Mayer, but I think the Smithfield is better.

I buy the precooked too... I like the Kroger brand the best I think, but I buy all different brands. Works best for us since we usually do not cook more than 6 pieces at a time. The precooked is easy, fast and mess free!

Lots of good endorsements here... I haven't bought bacon in AGES. Last time, I bought, it was 7 slices at the local meat counter, don't remember the store. Needed only 7 slices for a recipe.

I'm not too brand loyal. I do like Hormel's Range Brand and their Black Label bacon along with Oscar Meyer. I usually get the thick sliced. When a store has a thick sliced on sale, I'll look at it and if it's nice stuff I'll try it. Had good and not as good with it but for the most part, it's still good AFAIC. There's also a couple other brands that are packaged similar to how Range Brand is, rather than the spread out packaging normally seen, and often that's pretty good too albeit a bit spendy.

i used "real" bacon for a recipe at christmas and aside from the whole tuna can of grease, was the salt factor...but it was nice for a very short change!

I buy the restaurant type bacon in the 25 lb box from Sam's Club and freeze it in serving size pkgs. DD likes Aldi bacon.

The only thing I use bacon for is BLTs for lunch, so we don't eat a lot of it.

I buy only Oscar Meyer thin sliced center cut bacon. It goes on 2 for 1 sale about 2-3 times a year, and then I buy 6-7 packages and put them in the freezer.

My daughter taught me how to cook bacon in the oven then freeze it. Here is how:

Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees. Cover a short-lipped large sheet pan with aluminum foil. Lay out strips of bacon on the foil-covered pan and put into the oven. Check occasionally for doneness. We like our bacon crisp so cook it for about 30 minutes - just keep checking it through the glass on the door. When done, carefully remove from oven and put on stovetop to cool off. When somewhat cooled, remove bacon to a paper towel. When bacon has completely cooled and drained, lay out on a cookie sheet and put into the freezer. When bacon has frozen, put into Ziploc bag and put in freezer.

The rendered fat is very clear and you can pour it into a container to keep for when you need bacon fat.

I really have come to like Turkey bacon and usually get Kunzler brand
Now, if I want serious bacon I either get it by the pound at the local butcher in Intercourse Pa (Stoltzfus) or I get it at Shady Maple in Blue Ball, Pa.
Both smoke their own meats... Shady Maple also has a cut called Hillbilly bacon witch is very wide slices...wide enough to make one slice for a sandwich.
