You mentioned the deep golden color, I know it would be a long shot but I wonder if amber shellac would get you close? You can then coat with dewaxed clear shellac and overcoat with almost any clear In old homes many times everything was done in shellac In my old home I have redone the floors using shellac as my clearcoat Have been quite pleased with the results(I wanted to maintain the old world look and feel, many turn their noses up at shellac as they do not really understand it and the web does not help as it is full of much misinformation on the subject) My floors came out looking like old floors in really great condition instead of like brand new modern flooring which was exactly what I was hoping for. Shellac may not be quite as durable as the modern finishes But it offers a warmth and glow that is hard to beat and it is easily repaired, a quick wipe with denatured alcohol with the proper brush or just add a little more shellac to a damaged spot, it melts into the old and dries very fast.

If nailing down, you will need to assume the use of glue-assist because of the width of these planks. A full spread glue is probably your best option (pricey as it may be). The MAINTENANCE is always what I'm after when dealing with a hardwax Finish. This is a common requirement for COMMERCIAL installations. The reason: these floors can look THIRSTY fresh out of the box. And if they have been exposed to remodeling activity, they can get a little worn even before you move in. To prevent owner upset, it is well worth it to have the maintenance oil put down 1-2 days before the furniture goes back in. That way you have the freshest floor finish possible. And if you are going to do the maintenance yourself, it is a GREAT TIME to have the professionals SHOW YOU what to do and how to do it. This takes all the stress out of owning oiled floors. And PLEASE purchase EVERY SINGLE OSMO item listed in the maintenance link! Get everything ready BEFORE the floor needs it! And I mean everything. That way you are READY and able when life hits the fan!

We attempted several different samples mixing ebony with Jacobean and it was just too “flat” looking to me. The latest pics are the old wood, which are heart pine. They were planed down from beams out of an old flour factory in Macon, GA and were my favorite part of the house. We added new pine in the bedroom and the color definitely looks different. Will post pics when those dry enough. They were still a little tacky yesterday.

Great tips and advice. I would like to add, house plants will help filter out polluted air, along with maintaining humidity and adding color to a space as well.
