Advice needed on highlighting or streaking hair
Comments (34)I get highlights and lowlights every 6-8 weeks for about $150CAD. I have a fair amount of grey (enough that it's a "percentage" of head now instead of just "a bit") and I keep a lot of the grey in with the other color. My hairdresser also leaves my part natural which helps extend the length of time between color sessions. I am terrible with my hair but have gotten a few compliments on the color - people seem to like the mixed grey/blond/brown approach! I always get her to cool down the highlights as my natural color is very cool ash and the grey is obviously cool as well. To my mind it's better for a lazy person like me than a full head of color because when lots of grey grows in, you get the "barcode effect" around your part, whereas this way the grey growing in looks a lot more natural. I tried going 100% natural with the grey and brown but it ended up looking very dull and flat - my grey is dispersed too evenly and just made my whole head look taupe. I wish it grew in big chunks instead! I have gone too long (about 2 months) with lots of sun, sand, and salt in the hair and it has lightened up considerably over the summer. I need to go in for fall lowlights soon! Here's a photo showing the multicolour approach including a lot of grey....See MoreHair Dryer Recommendations?
Comments (28)Thank you all for your helpful comments. I looked online yesterday at several and planned a trip to Ulta after a meeting at a location nearby yesterday afternoon. I was all set to purchase a Conair, but wanted to try out several at Ulta. They still have their set-up where you can turn them on and feel the heat and speed. I probably increased the store temperature in that corner by 10 degrees trying out several at a time. I ended up with one made by Hot Tools, the Hot Tools Professional, for $42.99. I switched from the Conair after talking with someone and looking, feeling and testing. It was only a few dollars more and I had a $3.50 coupon, so the price wasn't really a deal breaker. The placard said it was good for fine hair, it has 3 heat settings and 2 speeds and a cool shot button, which I used a lot on my Chi. So did the Conair. The main difference was the weight and it seemed quieter. It is very light. Used it this morning and am happy. Funny, but my hair didn't seem to have those little frizzies around my part that I sometimes notice, even after getting out in the humid air. I asked the sales person about the brand and she said they get very few returns of that brand and if I wasn't happy after a few days I could return it. I did ask what brand seemed to be returned the most and guess what? It was Chi. I have to say, mine lasted at least 7 years. I took my old Chi to the lake and bought this one which is used every day, so I really can't complain....See MoreGot the Revlon hair dryer thing
Comments (29)I watched the video until I decided that she had so much product on her hair that it needed to be washed again. My hair is not long enough for most of the brush/dryer things. But I keep looking at them thinking that a smaller one might work well for me. Currently I use a round brush and dryer which requires some coordination and I have to stop every few minutes because my hands go numb from nerve damage in my neck. After that I use a curling iron because my hair is straight, flat and a tad frizzy. I googled best hair dryers and this list has a nice selection along with recommendations on which one is best suited for hair type. They did have two that are smaller that I plan on investigating. The Revlon had the top spot. https://www.cosmopolitan.com/style-beauty/beauty/g32271508/best-hair-dryer-brushes/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=arb_ga_Cos_d_bm_g32271508&gclid=CjwKCAiA8bqOBhANEiwA-sIlN8CclbRs11zBKAnBE4LxqOHzdqequvvGnnykSDEkPPbetO_Jq9_WLRoCuucQAvD_BwE...See MoreAdvice needed: My small IKEA kitchen design (Europe)
Comments (9)@Jennifer Svensson The 3D Software isn't showing it correctly, but the fridge cabinet door connects to the fridge's door. It's pretty common in Germany. You can see how it is supposed to work in the picture below. You got my reasoning for the shelf right. However, I think rather than putting another row of cabinets in place of the shelf, I would instead leave the wall as is or hang art or some sort of visual accent. The room is small as is, and I don't want it to become too claustrophobic. Cluttered shelves are a major pet peeve too. I'll consider skipping the shelf. Thank you for the comment!...See Moreellendi
