Hello- New Here

Hi to everyone,

I have been watching these forums for some time and just wanted to introduce myself.

My husband and I were planning on building a house five years from now, but I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and needed to undergo extensive surgery and treatment in Boston, which brought us to a place of wondering why we should wait to build. It taught us that life can be short, so squeeze the most out of each day!

So, we just started our project, and I wanted to share our website with you all and very much look forward to getting to know you. We are doing most of the work ourselves, with the exception of foundation, sheetrock and trusses. It's not a grand house but it's just right for us.

Welcome Blondie and thank you so much for sharing with us! ((((Hugs)))) to you for what you have gone through and I wish you the best as you go forward on this project. Your building site looks gorgeous -- where is it (state)? Do you have a floor plan or finish sketches? We'll look forward to following your progress.

Welcome to the GW Indalyne. I'm not sure where anyone gets enough corks to cover pathways, but what a cool idea. You have the perfect job for being able to cruise other people's gardens and get great ideas. Sometimes I try to leave for work early so I can detour off my usual route and look at people's gardens. I think that for every expensive garden idea there is a similar idea that can be implemented for almost nothing, if not for free. DH didn't always agree with me, but he doesn't argue about it anymore. He has even started to come up with a few ideas of his own. Cheryl

jstropic: I have been attempting to set seed from some of my Hippi's for a couple years, but haven't successfully had seed yet (they aborted). I've been more hopeful this year as the ones I've had longer are doing much better than their original Walmart state. soultan: Thank you! I think you're right on the ID -- the flowers were strongly red in person and only went a little more orange over age (but still quite red overall). The pictures I can find of Amigo seem to fit it very well. Not a good day today -- I came back from Kansas City to find my blooming beauty tipped over and fell *right into* the waste basket below. These lovely flowers sure can bend fast over a few days for the light -- I should have warned my BF before I left. Such a sweetie, he worried over my babies while I was gone (he was afraid they were getting too much or too little light, that they might need watering, and if the temperature was OK for them). All the flowers broke off and the scape was broken 2/3 the way up where it hit when it fell. Well... another year I guess before breeding this one. Hopefully the fall didn't damage the roots as well. :/ I guess he'll have to live with me ordering those Royal Color bulbs I've been drooling over, on the bright side ;)

I've only poured into premade forms a long time ago. I'm glad you are back and can maybe generate some interest here. Be sure to look at the miniature babies a few posts down.
