Arrived: BR-111 Triangulo Engineered Brazilian Cherry hardwood
Comments (32)Everlast Floors in Whippany, NJ did a terrible job with my installation and they damaged my file cabinets and scratched my floors and I can go on and on with the problems that I have had with the store. I wish I installed the 5.25" wide long boards Amendoim instead or the Brazilian Cherry long boards that were wide with a different store that takes pride in doing a good job and stands by their work. They were also supposed to do the installation in August 2014 but knew the wood was backordered so waited a few days so I could not cancel the contract to tell me and then told me that the wood would be there by the end of August but to wait until Gary would come back from vacation to cull the wood and be there. Gary the Salesman came back and then the wood still was not here and when it arrived I was trying to finish up my 10-15-2014 deadline and had to put off doing the floors. I can't believe how many damaged file cabinets I have and scratches on my floors and boards lining up with seams in a pattern that the installer admitted and the poor quality shoe molding used that looks terrible. Please do not use this store. When I have time, I will be doing a poor review on Yelp about the store. The salesman is a Bully and signs off if I pay, "we will pay for the file cabinet damage to the broken drawer that the installers did to a cabinet and replace the T-Molding (they stole the one I bought in a prior year that I had in the garage as they bought wood of another species stained that was too short) and other promises that they broke. They waited so long to say they will be here so I could not stop payment on the credit card. The installers that hardly spoke English did a good job but the one that headed the team that was an employee that they paid as an independent contractor, left green tape (I bought as they ran out) underneath the shoe molding and I can't get it all out and did the pattern and admitted it and had no idea we had enough wood and did not listen to me and used boards I told him not to use on my floor. I am so unhappy. The worst part is they never sent me the insurance claim form that I requested so many times to file a claim and they lied about the pad being so warm that anything in addition would be overkill and they keep telling me the owner of the store would call me back but he ignores the situation and I had to stop calling as it was my tax season. Comments (6)Gregmills, thank you for replying to my post. In 2009, I had several installers take moisture readings and my floor was dry. BUT since 2009, I had the water damage from the water heater on 3-20-13 which damaged the 5" wide BR-111 Brazilian Cherry engineered wood floors which have not been removed and are over the Floor Muffler Ultra pad that they were floated on. I had to buy area rugs as the planks had cracked and lifted. I was waiting to have the insurance claim settled first before removing the floors. My little 6 lb Maltese got her foot caught costing me over $300 with the vet bill, X-rays and pain medicine. Thankfully nothing was broken when she was running and got her foot caught in the floor and was whimpering and carrying on. That is why I bought the inexpensive temporary small area rugs to cover many of the damaged areas until the insurance company settled with me. I had chosen to install the same Brazilian Cherry Wood but now sold directly by Triangulo to stores rather than first sold to BR-111. I just want to change my width to 3.25" from 5". I would prefer a floating floor again as it felt like a solid wood floor but was not so hard on my feet. The store had bought a large lot of 3" Solid Indusparquet Brazilian Cherry Hardwood so can give me a very good price on installing the solid wood by gluing it down using SIKA 2. I did look this product up and they are saying 3/4" solid hardwood can be glued directly to the concrete since it has a moisture barrier and good holding power but flexible. I did call the manufacture of this wood today and Indusparquet will not warranty the solid wood unless it is nailed to plywood floors. I have get to go to the store to discuss the estimate he prepared for me but I am feeling I need to tell him that I really prefer the 3.25" engineered wood downstairs and upstairs. In the summer time, the air conditioner keeps the humidity level down and the house is maintained at 36 - 40% humidity. In the winter time, the dry air is a problem with my forced hot air heat. I used humidifiers downstairs in the day time in my home office and upstairs at night. I have never had a problem with the 5" engineered wood floors until the water damage so I feel I am OK with the engineered wood floors. But when I go upstairs at night, it is very dry and I have to run the humidifiers on a long time to make my bedroom humid enough so I do not get nose bleeds. This is what I am afraid of with the solid wood. I am also afraid of the install failing downstairs where the concrete floor is not flat/level. I filled the large cracks I found when the carpet was removed in 2009 before the installer arrived to install the floor. I will not use him again as he told me to use 2 less boxes so I changed my order and we ran out of wood and he never came back to finish the job when the wood arrived. I want someone to do the full job and charge me extra for moving the heavy cabinets. I have bought so many stackable crates since I will empty them. I have called moving companies to get prices and in case a store does not want to move the cabinets into my garage themselves and to put them back on the floors....See MoreMatching Brazilian Cherry (I know, I know)
Comments (15)if it's any consolation, that wood isn't 'rare'. not like Koa. It's a nice wood, but it's a very distinct look. The other issue is that wood patinas over time and the color changes. same w/Tigerwood. Chances of matching are slim to none. could your blend in a tile w/the current wood? I can't really tell if that's an option w/your layout. Do you like it? I mean, really like it? if you're getting white oak cabinets, then I'd change out the floors. it's just not going to look right w/the oak. It's dark and very red. If the insurance is footing the bill for this, then I'd jump on it. if they have to match the price of replacing the current flooring, then you should be getting a nice allowance. Here's a white oak cabinet w/your woodlands. now imagine that cherry floor w/these two!! Dark. it's a lot of red and brown. BTW, instead of the woodlands, have you seen Vanilla Noir? would look awesome w/the oak if you're worried about waste, try to save them and pry up the planks. maybe you can save it and recycle it. put it on the walls in another room. (if it's glue down, forget it!) I had a Santos Mahoghany in my room and struggled w/removing it. I was over the red tones. I went with a wider plank French Oak and love it. it's easier to keep clean and just brightens the whole room. Think of it this way. Your flooring has been there for 30 years. That's a lot longer than average. w/white,,looks better more modern. modern tile in the kitchen w/the cherry elsewhere similar cab stain to the cherry floors...See MoreRelated Professionals
