How do you tile on a layered floor?

I have sheet vinyl in my kitchen I want to replace, probably with tile.

Problem is the sheet vinyl is over a subfloor. Under the subfloor is the original floor, which was linoleum that they made in squares.

The linoleum is really, REALLY glued down, and I'd love to avoid taking that up if I possibly could.

Can I take up the subfloor with the sheet vinyl, lay down a new subfloor, and tile over the new subfloor?

And most importantly - is there a way to reduce SQUEAKS? (the current subfloor squeaks like crazy.)

Thanks for any help.
