Not all engineered flooring can be installed the same. Some are designed to be stapled, floated, or glued down, the milling on the T&G joint is good enough to use glue in the groove, and strap clamps, to glue the assembly together with T&G glue only so it all floats. You can staple it and not have loose or high/proud edges, from the groove side. Some engineereds are gluedown only. They are not milled well on the T&G. Gluing it all down keeps it pretty flat, with some patients. Some engineereds are floating only. These have the glueless locking T&G joints.

if wilsonart tap n' lock wont go together, it is one of 4 problems. installer has no idea how to install it factory defective materials installation is bowed (see #1 & #2) subfloor height differential exceeds/varies beyond manufacturer specified tolerance limitations (SEE #1) and this is something the installer MUST check for prior to the install. this product is NOT meant to be nailed ... EVER. Make them stop immediately and get someone who knows what they are doing in there. Here is the Wilsonart Tap 'n' Lock Installation Instructions ... please note where it specifically states: "... Wilsonart Classic, Estate Plus, and Red Label Flooring products are installed as floating floors. This means the flooring is not glued or nailed to the subfloor. Never nail Wilsonart Flooring to the subfloor ..."

One option to consider is cork flooring. Have you thought about this? It's eco-friendly and about the same price as regular hard wood floors with labor included (although it is easy to do yourself I think). I personally have not had it done but have heard great things. Stranded is a gluedown only product. It is too hard to get a fastener through it, and it shrinks and swells too much for floating with just glue at the T&G joint. They are however, making a glueless click with the stuff for floating only... but the jury is out on that stuff. Works good in some climates and a disaster in others.
