I have Firefox and Adblock too, but still get static adds that I can't ding. Only the moving ones respond to Adblock. How does one get rid of the still ads?

Right now, its Toms shoes and superpages.com. I did have the Charmin one earlier. The one I objected to was a huge top ad that flapped itself down the page. I had to log in again today, too. But I have noticed that sometimes it is an ad for something I have checked on earlier. Whoops, got Charmin again.

A couple of McCormick ads - one top and one bottom. The others I only get, if I inadvertently scroll the mouse down/ or otherwise move it while I'm reading.

Opps, I misspoke - it's not scroling but seems to happen if I run the mouse down the page or otherwise move it.

Right now, a weight loss ad from GNC and one for a Lighting Co. One I need, but ignore (lol) one I don't. I can't say they bother me. But i have Firefox and wonder why they are coming through.

How do you get ad block, and is it safe and free?
I get lots of ads, they are always changing.

I used to get a zillion annoying ads, but now I get absolutely NO ads. I have Adblock Plus from Mozilla Firefox.

Go to a thread posted end of Dec. Scroll down to where ravencajun tells you how to set up Firefox so that you don't get ads anymore.....it's about 2/3 way down the page.

I see no ads anywhere on the internet ever. I use firefox with adblock plus and the easylist subscriptions.

sjerin you have to add the easylist subscription to adblock plus or you will still get some ads.

In that post mentioned above I give full instructions and a video. Just keep scrolling in that thread because I have a couple of posts with instructions.

If you already have firefox and adblock plus just go here and under easylist click on add to adblock plus to put the easylist on yours

excellent. Anyone viewing the video remember it is a bit old so any version numbers they mention just ignore and follow the directions because they are still the same even though the versions will be newer now.

there are 2 ways to add the easylist, either go to the website I linked to above or the method mentioned in the video.
Be sure to remember to restart your firefox after each step so it sets up properly.

Tons of them. They are all different ones. Tamara wanted to know what ones I was getting. Well I could sit here all day and keep refreshing and get new ones each time.
Now I am not only seeing them, I'm hearing them also.

ivillage has to be responsible for all of it. I'm sure they have intalled something new.

Well, let's not mislead people. To clarify, the Adblock for Firefox only works with Firefox, but there's Adblock for Chrome, which works fine with Chrome. Opera has "content blocking" which is just as effective (or possibly even better) and doesn't require the frequent updates as does Firefox's extensions. One of the many reasons I prefer Opera and Chrome to Firefox.

And back to the topic, I see very few on the internet, none on GW. There's some that get by in various ways, but not anything like the Internet Elephant. And there's ads that get by Firefox and Chrome too. Not many on any of them, but there's different ways of doing it that will bypass the filtering method.

oh no no these are all free totally free so there really is no reason for anyone to suffer with these ads when it is so easy to be rid of all of them and FREE.
Plus it is highly advised to always have at least 2 browsers on every computer because should IE fail (which it does often) then you are left with no access to the internet, with another browser added on like firefox you have the ability to get online even if IE is broken. Plus firefox is a safer browser. Some people do not realize you can use IE and firefox at the exact same time so you are not having to pick just firefox, you just click the firefox icon when you want to get online using firefox or click the IE icon if you want to use IE to go online. If you wanted to you could use firefox just to come to KT and use your IE for all other online activity. Nothing changes about your IE at all. When installing firefox it asks if you want to import your settings and faves/bookmarks from IE just say yes and it will set up your firefox exactly like your IE but does not change IE at all.

I in general do not recommend beta products on forums since beta are more for beta testers and not all users and since the ad block plus for Chrome is in beta at this time I hesitate to recommend it

there may be other options for Chrome and Opera.
I use and am confident with firefox so feel safe recommending it.

Other options would certainly be worth trying out if directions are provided in a well explained method for easy general understanding by a varied forum.

Danged if I know ... as I pay almost nil attention to 'em ; hardly any have magnets that attract my eyes ... almost irresistably.

But I remember one for McCormick something or other a day or so ago.

It sort of got in my face ... plus, we used to have a McCormick cookie factory in our city ... along with a seasoning business (but it operated under a different name).

None. Everything seems to be working fine again. It was only for around 3 days I was seeing them.

I have discovered that anything that is underlined in the text brings up an ad.
