tips and tricks needed on crackle painting
Comments (15)sponge painting..hmmm...now that's an idea too...didn't think of that. And I have sponge painted before..love that effect. Karen...I like the white also (they already are peeling and all) but was thinking of doing one red, one the gold yellow like I did my marine corps chair, and one navy blue (like the chairs are going to be on my porch) and then maybe adding a star to the top and bottom of the spindle. Drill the holes on top and add the flags....or do you think that is to much..LOL....I don't know. I was thinking I liked them white also after I saw them next to the gazebo but thought if I painted them it would bring even more color over to that side since there is sooooo much white..I think they get lost a bit with the white siding. What does everyone else think? - Jacque...See MoreMesquite bean/pod cleanup - tips or tricks?
Comments (22)I know this post is old but I am new to the forum and rooting around for tips and tricks myself for various things so I thought I'd chime in. We just spent the ENTIRE morning raking and hand picking mesquite seed pods up off the ground in our front yard. Now my husband is attempting to get the rest with our leaf blower. I am with the fellow who first responded - I should have just spent five minutes every day picking up what dropped. I would love to have spent my Saturday morning doing something else! Love the shade the tree provides my yard and home here in Phoenix though. Oh, and we also have a mesquite AND palo verde that some previous owner thought would be awesome to plant by our pool. Ugh......See MoreDiagnosing hydro leaks (tips or tricks?)
Comments (7)Just confirmed 100% success with 28 grommets. The three leaking holes were resolved as above (cleaning the grommet, and lightly sanding the hole with fine sand paper). Never did find Vaseline around here, but turned out not to be needed. I recall a TV report where a lady at the Vaseline factory tasted Vaseline full-time as quality control. Can't be toxic, but I don't know how water-resistent it is over time. Otherwise, in 4 years of using untreated grommets, I've never had a leak I couldn't fix easily. But leak diagnosis isn't all that easy with so many. Onward to my strawberry plants. Someone gave me 8 naked-rooted strawberry plants yesterday, so I guess I'm doing strawberries this Spring, which are noted to be compatible with cabbage, onions, and beans (though I haven't tried beans before either - and they aren't the easiest by reputation). -v...See MoreLets share tips and tricks for toddlers
Comments (30)Here's a trick I used on my stepdaughter, who would *not* drink a cup of milk - a few sips and she was done. I secretly put a drop or two of red food coloring in the bottom of a glass. I then held it so my hand wrapped around the bottom so she couldn't see the coloring. I asked her if she wanted some "magic milk". I ceremoniously took the carton of milk and poured it into the glass - as it filled the milk turned pink. You should have seen her eyes!!! She drank the whole thing. I varied the colors so it was always a surprise, but she liked pink and purple the best. Funny thing was the next time I talked to her mom, she asked me what the heck magic milk was. My stepdaughter is now 13, but we still have magic milk. We take turns creating the colors....See Moregregmills_gw
