I agree with earlier poster :Stay away from any product that is under the umbrella of Connect America. I used Medical Alert - one of their products - they own many, approximately 10 products- including Guardian on call for ex- tried both the mobile & in- home unit - not only do they not perform as advertised ( not able to communicate into mobile - so they can not talk to you nor you to them -so not able to determine if there is really a problem or if you're just testing, so for ex, they call emergency #s just for the test-those of you who pay for EMS coming should beware-when I complained about this they say it's because dispatchers are doing job extra well-hard to imagine a more pathetic answer). the in home stationary unit can't pick up a voice in the next room, despite claims that they can do that within 100 feet - there's incompetence on every level- and I figured out how to reach executive office -basic and essential info which i repeatedly provided even to higher ups was repeatedly recorded Incorrectly (existence & location of lock box, phone numbers, protocol of who should be called in what order, preferred hospital, the list goes on) and whenever a mistake was pointed out they attribute to customer instructions as excuse. They went so far as to send a tech to the home but failed to tell tech which system we were using - turns out tech had never seen it before. Amazing they're still in business. Plus if one pays over phone with cc when you get device the " contract" tries to make you sign off on allowing them to directly extract $ from your cc or checking acct- no alternative is offerred- they never disclose that they are keeping your credit card on file when you call - VERY sneaky. I should have listened to my intuition - when shopping around I was asked what other companies I was looking at & they trashed them with inaccurate info - which wa offensive. Someone I know used them so I let that trump my better judgement but I'm warning all of you -stay away. Would also like to know if DS Smallwood got the touch & talk unit...does no further info indicate a problem with that product?

Cynthia, I stand corrected. I checked Frontline's website. It did use to be prescription only, but is not now. Heck, I may be a convert if I can get it cheaper. Three 100 lb dogs are not cheap on the frontline front. Why are FRONTLINE Brand Products only available through my veterinarian? It is Merial's sales policy to sell our small animal products only where a veterinarian/client/patient relationship exists. Merial believes that the veterinarian is the only professional qualified to serve the health care needs of pets, the concerns of their owners and the appropriate use of our small animal products such as FRONTLINE Brand Products.

Actually I would say it's better to overreact than to not react at all and I think your intuition is telling you there is a problem. He/she may be an adult and entitled to their own medical privacy but based on what's taking place, it sounds like maybe some intervention may be needed. Is there a chance it may be better to make the parents aware and let them intervene? IMO, the things you say that this person is being medicated for ie anxiety, back pain and insomnia and what happens if a dose is missed are a bigger concern. Often times some of the drugs I see prescribed for those symptoms can be addictive and would require much more caution in regards to drinking and dosage than the anti depressent would. ETA:. I'm not claiming to know what's being prescribed but I'm in charts all day long and see the trends.. Since I have a family member. prescribed some of those same medications, I've educated myself about it and am just saying there seems to be some red flags.

Lukki Irish, I wish his headaches were migraines. I think they would be easier to treat and there would be more medications and treatments available to him. His are caused from a car accident he was in just over 8 years ago. They actually began during physical therapy for his injured shoulder. Workers Comp sent him to PT BEFORE tests were done to see the injuries he had. A therapist had him to a standing pushup against a wall and the pain just shot through his head. It never went away. And by never, I mean unless he's sleeping and on strong pain meds, he has a constant horrific headache. While he can bend down to pick something up, if he does it more than twice, it feels like someone has taken a bat to the back of his head and it radiates towards the front. Any time he yawns, the pain is excruciating. And that's ON his medication. He's had several MRI's done and gone through pain therapy and tried several medications. He even tried to have two vertebra fused together to see if that was the problem. They were damaged in the accident. It didn't do a thing. Then he was in the hospital about 18 months ago and a doctor from the headache clinic here tried him on a drug that is used on cancer patients: Nabilone. It's synthetic CBD. The first night he used it he slept for 8 hours which is the first time in 7 years he had done that. He was living on 2 to 3 hours of sleep a night before and it did quite the number on his mental health. Being in the hospital wasn't his choice, I had him put in there. Since losing my job however, I'm now forced to pay for this medication which runs over $450 per month which is almost 1/2 his pension cheque. I don't know how we're going to pay for it. I have this month of benefits left as part of my severance agreement.
