We purchased a Gravely Z252 commercial mower with a 24 hp Kohler mower in 2006 figuring it would be the last mower we would ever buy. A few weeks ago, while my wife was mowing she noticed the (650 hour in 12 years; 50 hour annual use) commercial engine sounded "funny" . When I pulled the oil dip stick it was dry. My wife commented there was no puddle of oil under where the mower is parked. Consulting the business from which we purchased the mower we learned that a significant number of the mowers purchased around the time we bought ours had catastrophic oil loss and "blew" engines when the inadequate Kohler head gasket failed. Supposedly, Kohler has redesigned its head gaskets with a metal rim on the gasket like auto engine gaskets. The gasket on our 2006 mower had no metal rim. I asked the business from which we purchased our mower why Kohler didn't send out an advisory to be vigilant in monitoring oil levels or even offered a replacement with the newly engineered gasket. Apparently, the business was aware of the gasket problem but neither they nor Gravely alerted us to the potential failure of the poorly designed gasket on our $10,000 Gravely commercial mower which was only used to mow around our home. I bet commercial mowers have 50 or more hours put on them weekly during grass cutting season. I realize the mower's oil level should have been checked before every start. However, my wife who loves to mow probably would not have taken advice from me. Had Gravely, Kohler or the business from which we purchased the mower had alerted us, my wife would have probably heeded their advice. During an election year, politicians are exceptionally responsive to constituents needs. I plan to craft a letter to Maryland's Governor, Comptroller and Attorney General. Depending on their response to my letter, there is still the option to sue Kohler and Gravely in Maryland Small Claims court. Incidentally, our new Kohler Command Pro CV742 25hp engine cost over $3400.00 installed. The upper limit for small claims lawsuits in Maryland is $5,000.00. Even if a company is headquartered outside MD, it is subject to suit it if it sells its products in MD. I will let you know how things turn out. too late to get a picture i guess? ... remember both mites and asters yellows cause the distortion of the cone and lake of petals to some extent... but only asters yellows will cause the petals to turn green.. and to have the mini flowers (stem and all) grown from the cone itself. I have seen plenty of plants that are completely infected with asters yellows and the plants still look healthy enough... it's just the blooms that give it away. In regards to the asters yellow virus living in the soil... from what i have read... no it doesn't... it needs to be living in a host plant. Plenty of common weeds can get asters yellows, so if you get true asters yellows in your garden.. it could be in the neighborhood just lurking around. If you are ripping out a plant, i would still wait a while to replant a potentially suitable plant so that all existing plant material (roots left in the ground) is dead. But why not just plant something else anyway?

My shower isn't too large, so I chose a rainshowerhead that comes out of the wall on a rod, then the water shoots straight down. I was worried there wouldn't be enough strength because I have low water pressure, but it works great! If you did that, then you could use your handheld on the wall you prefer. Mine is a Hansgrohe with adjustable spray. I love my Grohe Movario handheld system, but it does not adjust forward and back, just up and down, side to side. That has not been a problem.

You should also look at your range's specifications for distance to the hood, though typically they also will say 30-36". I think hanging it at 28.5" would be too low, and a little claustrophobic as you are trying to lean in to stir a pot or something. As to the 22" depth, actually that is shallower than most. Most hoods are 24-27" deep to exhaust the front burners, so 22" depth is not a reason to bump your head. I also think your "worry about being able to see up into a hood/vent" doesn't make any sense. What's the big deal? Why don't you want to see up into the hood? Everyone who has a hood can see up into it when you are standing at the range. It's not a terrible sight LOL! It's a kitchen appliance that is supposed to have a filter to look up into (though I guess I'd prefer to look at a baffle filter than a mesh filter). I think you should cross that particular concern (seeing up into the hood) off your list, and make your installation height decision much easier. I think your husband's preference of 30" is good--it's fulfills the spec requirements of your insert, it's low enough to capture the smoke/grease before it escapes to elsewhere it the kitchen, but not so low as to be confining.
