I couldn't even begin to let someone do a pedicure on me when I had my ingrowns. The pain was intense and throbbing. In one case, I actually had a red line that ran from my toe to the middle of my calf. It was that infected and did I mention it hurt? Yikes. The pain was so severe that the doctor gave me 11 (eleven) shots of Novacaine, and Zylocaine and neither of them worked. Eleven! After over two hour trying to numb and fix the toe, the dr. said it was after hours and he had somewhere to be. I could go home and come back the next day or have him remove it without anesthesia. I chose to have him cut it out. I held on the nurse so tight while the procedure was being done that she probably still has fingernail marks on her arm. They had to ask my DH to leave the room because he was feeling faint. LOL Men, whadda they know of pain? :-) Jodi-

I get the tingling when I sleep, when I drive long distances, and when I do certain other tasks that require keeping my wrists bent for a length of time. I was formally tested and the test involves something like acupuncture, with pins being stuck lightly in various points of the arm/wrist. I now always sleep wearing wrist braces and I don't wake up with tingling. I also wear them when I know I'll be driving an hour or more. I don't like the Walgreen's or CVS braces, though - they are cheaply made and irritate my arms. I got the pair I really like at a proper medical supply store. I would NOT be without them. If my carpal tunnel gets worse, I'll have surgery. But it's not been recommended yet. Going to a chiropractor will not help this ailment at all. The trick is keeping your wrists straight - and that's what the braces do.

I always called them "wrist warmers", and got mine at the residents' homemade booth of a retirement home. I love them around the house in winter. I can type and write and do all kinds of work in them, but they are easy to slip off when I need to get my hands wet, and easy to slip back on. So comfy. And just by keeping my wrists warm, my fingers are warmer, too. (I love this booth at the retirement home events. I got my sleep slippers there, too. Knit, not as snug as socks so the tootsies can wiggle and breathe, but they come up over the ankle with just enough snugness that they stay on, but relaxed enough that I kick them off easily when I get too warm.) edit to add, for outdoors I find mittens way warmer than gloves! Though in that "energy crisis" in the early 70s when everyone including the high school turned down the heat, it was harder to write with the mittens on. The coat didn't help, either.

Had a similar occurrence about 8 years ago after we finished a new pool with Hydrazzo, a polished finish. It's a very smooth finish. My customer's daughter had some abrasions on her feet after an extended time in the pool. There was no blame from my customer, just a point of fact. The nanny mentioned to me the young girl's feet were always very soft and she felt this contributed to the abrasions. The daughter's friends did not have this issue swimming at the same time. Kid's feet and palms will be more susceptible to "pruning" up quicker than adults especially when they are in the pool for an extended time period in warm water. I suggested to the homeowner for her daughter to wear water shoes for protection. This prompted me to add a section on my contract to mention this possible occurrence and suggest protection on swimmers feet. I have not heard of finger tips getting abrasions, but from your photos, your kid's hands look pruny. It's obvious they were in the pool for quite some time. Only you know if there is a significant difference in the texture from the previous plaster to the new. If the new plaster is slightly rougher, I would say it just exacerbates the issue.
