Woodie's Layered Salad - recipe please?

I do not seem to have a copy of Woodies Layered Salad... can someone repost it for me?

DEEP DISH LAYERED SALAD -Woodie
2 hard cooked eggs, chopped
1 1/2 heads iceburg lettuce - rinsed, dried and shredded
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
1 cup chopped green onions
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
2 cups frozen green peas, thawed

2 cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
2 tablespoons crumbled bacon
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Layer 1/2 of the lettuce in the bottom of a large bowl. Follow with a
layer of celery, bell pepper, green onion, mushrooms, peas and egg. Top
with remaining lettuce.
Whisk together the mayonnaise, brown sugar,
garlic powder and curry powder. Spread evenly over top of salad. Sprinkle
with crumbled bacon and Parmesan cheese. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Makes 10 servings

That is one of my all time favorite salads.Sometimes I leave out the curry powder, depends on my mood.

I'd personally prefer an Italian type dressing. Chase's recipe above looks good. Your ingredients sound good, but you need a little color... you have a lot of red (tomatoes and pepperoni) and white (pasta and cheese) so you need a little yellow (maybe some yellow peppers or you could use cheddar cheese instead). A little green (peppers, broccoli, asparagus, zucchini, or green onion) would be good too, and black olives look and taste good in a pasta salad. Now, just between you and me, if your not serving it for company the color really doesn't matter and I'd just load it with your favorite stuff whatever it is, and whatever you have. The secret is all in the dressing; if it's good, everything will taste good. Adding or subtracting an item or two shouldn't really matter. There are no right or wrong ingredients for a pasta salad.

It's become a family favorite, my stepmother and Amanda always ask to make sure I'll make it for holidays. Thanks and sounds great and I will be adding it for Easter. Well... without the peas. My DH ruined peas for my kids by calling them "Little green balls of doom" :-(

We always make Woodie's layered salad at holiday dinners, my girls love the stuff. I usually add the curry powder, but I never notice it, so maybe I should just leave it out...

Alexa, those "Little Green Balls of Doom" are my favorite part!

I love that salad too....never have added curry powder...will try it next time...and I always use 3 or 4 eggs and less mushrooms.At least one of the eggs gets sliced up for the top...for pretty!

My version has plain white sugar in the "topping" - will try brown sugar next time. And I don't do the mushrooms.
The important thing I was taught about this recipe is to be sure to spread the mayo topping all the way to the sides of the glass bowl when making this ahead of serving time. It really does keep a long time - my recipe is called "24 Hour Salad."

I also do the 24 Hour Salad or 7 Layer Salad. My version has the white sugar, no curry, no mushrooms and intead of parm it's shredded cheddar. I agree - love those little green balls of doom!

Guess I thought of peas as "little green balls of doom" when I was a kid, but now I like them in many recipes and even plain by themselves on a plate as a side dish. But I still don't eat canned peas if I can help it!

Bumping to share with the noobs.

I am bringing salad to the Swim Team Picnic this weekend and since I have brought Frito Salad to the last several, I think I will make Woodie's Layered Salad for this one.

I'd have to use more than 2 little boiled eggs, that's not enough. I'd say 4 at least!
