cat pee on hard wood floor

Ann

OK, I'll spare you the story of how it happened. But unbeknownst to me, cat pee soaked through an area rug months ago. I just removed the rug and discovered, in horror, dark grayish stained wood. No obvious mold but I wonder if that's why it's discolored? I doused it in peroxide and soaked it to neutralize the pee. Next I poured dilute bleach over it. So far, the smell is gone, but the stain hasn't changed at all.

My wood floors are far from perfect; the house is 48 years old and past owners clearly had dogs that gouged the floors, the finish is missing here and there. None of that bothers me; I'm quite casual. However, dark stains from pee bother me a lot.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Ann
