This is a subject that is near & dear to me. LOL! I've been wanting new frames for a while now, but my progressive script kept changing, meaning I needed new lenses every 6 months. (Cause is cataracts forming, we're watching them) So the last time I was at the eye doctors, my script hadn't changed that much so I decided I wanted new frames. I looked around at the selection at my eye doctors and was disappointed. I told the Optometrist that I wanted color, but not just one color. He told me to pick out a frame from the Tom Davies selection; I also like rectangular frames, and then I could customize the colors that I wanted. Colors, plural .... he pulled out these folders of amazing colors and I picked 4 different colors for my frames. They aren't cheap, and they took a while to come in since they were custom made for me, but I love them. And I will wear them for years to come. Tom Davies has ready to wear (RTW) also, but if you find an Optometrist that carries the line, you can customize the colors of your own frames. https://www.tdtomdavies.com/

Thanks, mdln. and, Elmer, I suspected that could very well be the case. Or, the charge may be steep. Some of these optical shops are guarded and pricy. Most of them have a good thing going and are protective of their turf, contacts, sources and so on. That’s business and there is likely a good amount of competition. However, I bet I could find someone to do it — for a price. What if someone from one coast moves across country and wants to keep their pricy frames while updating the lenses? I already sent mine for repair and I am not crazy with the lenses in such a short frame — too much dithering to find the sweet spot. If they can’t be mended, I’ll Just use a hot glue gun after abrading the mend area (facetious). I’m resourceful (often). I once repaired an SUV rear windshield washer nozzle for $0.45 instead of paying for a whole new dealer installed washer unit. I just needed a teensy weensy patent tube. I was confident I’d stumble across something some day. Voila! A basketball inflating needle worked fine after I cut it to size, uncrimped it, and epoxied it into place. clt3 — I’m happy to hear you love your frames. For me, it was (before they broke) the short lenses and (apparently) the “narrow channel” archetecture of the lenses. Okay for static driving, but they were awful for me if I needed to keep swapping fields (say when shopping). I guess I’m a tactile intolerant sort — I’m easily irritated by things around my face — hair, bangs, glasses, smudged eyeglasses, eyelashes in my eyes (or goop), hats that have a wide brim, long sleeves when working, tight shoes or waistbands, people too close; intrusive sounds like fans or keyboard clicks. I like near monastic silence, but with cool, clean fresh air, sky, vegetation and wildlife. To me, this is normal. I have no idea how anyone can think or create in a stifling environment in dress clothing (tight shoes or heels, a suit or dress with constricting waistline or jacket. If I cannot row a boat in it, I don’t want it on me. (And no, I don’t want to smell your charcoal grill or suffer your leaf blower racket.) ETA “you” plural“ general

delilah66 - The way it works with Replace A Lens is you order the lenses online. Then they will tell you where to mail the frames and the prescription. If you dont have a prescription you can mail them a pair of old glasses with a current prescription. They fit the lenses to the frames and insert them. They then mail back your frames with the lenses already inserted. I like this process because the lenses are very cheap, they will allow you to use old frames, and you can buy readers or any other frames that you come across without spending a fortune. I really like Eyebob readers. A normal optical shop would never put prescription lenses into reader frames. They would say that the frames are not durable. My experience has been that they actually work great. My favorite glasses are the ones I just lost. I purchased them off Ebay for around $40 and the lenses cost me another $40. I used those frame for about 4 years before I lost them. I also had lenses put in $3 sunglasses I purchased on Amazon. I pick up frames all the time for this purpose and have never had a problem, except from the horrible company that I used in NY before I learned about Replace A Lens. I need single vision lenses. They start at $39.

My house reflects me, yes-or at least whatever can be described as me..to a degree I can do that, given there are other people inabiting it too)) I'm the most stubborn and sure of myself when it comes to houses-because I guess that's when one can have total control without devastating others too much. But I can't supress them either..it's their place too. And needs to reflect them too. First of course I had to think-what is it, that "me", that I want it to reflect? In a new house? Because things change, a bit or a lot, depends-and I want to "write" the changes onto my house as much as I want to "write" something that never ever changed and never will I love folk and fairy tales and animals and books and flowers and strange creatures and portraits. I always loved all that I just realized that what won't be authentic right now to me -is the happy ending which most-not all- fairy tales have. The rest stays. So I thought and thought (and opened once a thread btw which helped me a lot) and narrowed it down to a single word that's fitting-and went ahead It's still not exactly what I want it to be That's largely because I consider "wanting" by itself a certain luxury. Lately. It means I'm in a darn good mood if I really want something related to the house. And also because of some other things..I won't go into it because I aleady take too much space and I'm not sure I 'm even conveying my thoughts in a good way As for wardrobe-well I'm a moody person, so I have love for many things. Some parts of it are pretty classic simple stuff, some-bohemian, some-quirky or deconstructed I dislike formal attire-it can look amazing btw, I still dislike the idea- and everything that I have to think about too much after I put it on. I do care-I just don't want to care once it's on me. I guess pretty much same with the house. I do care..I just don't want to care too much. I like patina, and handmade stuff, and assymetry, and if the lines are all on the same level)say art-and door, or window frame) it irritates me..it doesn't when it's other people's place, but in mine, it does And I like to mix stuff intentionally sometimes, or put art intentionally low, or off My husband likes symmetry so all the issue of art placement-whatever takes normal folks 15 minutes can take us several hours. ok I stop myself here because I'm not even sure I'm answering the question lol but yes it's a fun thread, and I'm grateful you opened it Friday (I don't even know what's my favorite day of the week is, anymore. Probably Friday too..Used to be Saturday)
