Skip making summer plans for this year. It's not so much as how long it will take you to get over the surgery, it's the lasting effects of having anesthesia. It can make you feel yucky for months sometimes. You will have to be careful about lifting things (no suitcases, etc.) and you will tire easily. So unless you are going to have a real laid-back, do-nothing vacation, you would be better off staying in and taking it easy. Doctors usually want six weeks of GOOD BEHAVIOR before they allow normal activities.

Sometimes sugical clips are deliberately left inside to permanently secure tissue in some way. They may or maynot be contributing to her pain. The reason for all the tests is to find out as much as possible if surgery is necessary and also what might need to be done surgically. The risk of opening up an abdomen is not taken lightly and is not done without cause. I know how hard it is to wait through all of this when a loved person is suffering. You are doing so well by standing by with your Mom through it all. I hope you have someone to encourage you as you are encouraging her.

For me, the only trigger I have been able to figure out is a change in sleep patterns. I used to take Imitrex but it started giving me cold sweats immediately after taking it so now the doctor has prescribed.......it starts with an M but i can't remember what it is called. Oh, yeah Maxalt! As long as I take it AS SOON as the symptoms start it will get rid of a migraine. If I wait too long, I have to lay down in a cold,quiet, dark room with a cold eye compress on.And sleep..The worst thing is when I get sick too. Most times I throw up and get dizzy and once it threw me into a seizure. But, no matter what I feel like a zombie the next day just like Linda said. I have had them since about the age of 10 and they are debilitating for me also. I feel bad for anyone with migraines

Ooh - I'm glad that yours was taken care of, rthummer. Sounds very scary! I'm fortunate in that my biggest complaint about the fibroids is my huge tummy. I have icky discomfort when I lay on my side as the biggest fibroid pulls. Some times the fibroids ache. But my doctor isn't at the point where she says definite hyst. yet. She is hoping that the fibroids will shrink (I am 2 years through menopause). I want them gone! But from what I'm reading on other sites, it seems that a lot of women get a swollen belly after surgery and sometimes it lasts for a year or more. You say yours never went down completely. I'd be ok with not completely, but this is is so darned uncomfortable and discouraging. My dr. said my abdomen would measure at about a 5 month pregnancy size.
