Did your surgeon make any recommendations post op, he would be the first person I would ask. 16 days is really not a long time. I personally would stay away from any eyecream that has an anti wrinkle or tightening effect for now, while you are still healing. Some eyecreams make me puff up. congratulations for taking the plunge, you must be so happy !

I disagree with dlm's derm. Prescription strength retin a creams/gels do help eliminate fine lines and improve the texture of skin. It has been shown to improve sun damaged skin. It wont work for sagging skin though. About 3 years ago, I had lipo done under my chin. I am not over weight by any means but did have this little bit of fat collect there. The lipo took out the fat but left the skin a bit loose (I was 56) I had a series of radio frequency treatments done and it helped shrink the skin. I have treatments done once a year now to help maintain my skin. The treatment stimulates the body to produce collagen. Finals results are 4-6 months after last session. Might not work for everyone, depends on the health of your skin, but works well for me. That is one area I find really ages a woman, next is the hands. . ..

Nora and Fran, thank you for your kind thoughts. Unfortunately, our worst fears were confirmed this afternoon. She has adenocarcinoma - 1 1/4" mass in her lung, areas in her shoulder and her back. She will meet with the onocologist on Tuesday and most likely begin radiation that same day. Only a few of us know, she has not told her sons yet, nor our mom or other siblings. My younger sister is with her now, and I suggested that, as hard as it will be, they call and tell Mama while she's at home (not to wait until she comes to the hospital tomorrow, then worry about her getting home.) She will be able to grieve tonight and then be more prepared to face the future with my sister tomorrow. She tried calling Mama, but bless her heart, she was at Mass, so will have that message waiting on her to call. She has 3 sons - two live away and the one who is quadraplegic lives with her. He will be devastated the most - ever since his accident he has leaned on her. It's just all terribly sad. Thanks for listening.

Lynn, I just read your story and am so happy to learn your beautiful dog is finally recovering well. One of my cats had a toe amputated recently. I picked him up the next day, drove home (12 miles) and then realized no one had given me an antibiotic for him. I called the vet, and a tech apologized for the slip-up. Drove back to the vet's. Then there was the time I had an antibiotic prescription for myself. I took it to Walmart to be filled, drove home (16 miles) and (as is my habit) looked up the numbers printed on the capsules. Turned out the pharmacy had sent me home with antidepressants. The pharmacist didn't even apologize for this one. And she said, "Just throw them out." I insisted she dispose of the pills properly--after I drove back to Walmart with them. But I wouldn't be surprised if she "just threw them out."
