Thank you all for your input. Carla, my doctor has discussed surgery, but only if all else fails, but I am glad to hear it was a breeze, thanks. The pain is very low grade except when the fingers go completely numb. That sounds like a contradiction, to feel pain when numb, but it does hurt!! It is interesting how suddenly certain things cause the numbness -- like holding a phone to my ear, combing out my hair after I wash it, using a blow dryer, applying makeup, holding the steering wheel for a long drive, things I've taken for granted. Then some things I think would bother me don't, like painting, playing the violin, gardening, chopping vegetables and cooking. While trying to avoid the repetitive tasks I'm getting very good at doing some things left-handed. So I've reset my chair higher, but I think I'll still need one of those wrist-rests to keep them higher, or get a pull-out under-desk tray so the keyboard is lower. I'll try the gel wristband, too, good suggestion! Meredith, this is a minor irritation compared to your back problems, you have my complete sympathy. My mom has had serious back trouble for many years now, and it has really been hard for her. I have seen first hand how much that can change a person's life. This is nothing compared to back trouble! Darlene 87: I have Osteoporosis and have been on Fosamax for 6 years. When I was first diagnosed my bones were very bad. I fell and broke my hip and they couldn't repair the bone, because as my surgeon said--my bones were like mush. As a result I had to have a hip replacement, couldn't put any weight on that leg for 6 weeks and took 6 months to recover. As you can see I had reason to thouroughly research Osteoporosis. I read every book or article I could find including medical textbooks. I joined the Osteoporosis society. I'm happy to say with Fosamax and the proper doses of Calcium and Vitamin D my bones are getting back to normal. Not there yet but pretty close. A few years back the dental community latched on to a study that said there was a danger of Osteonchrosis with taking Fosamax or any Bisphosphonate--Osteonchrosis is a rotting of the bone beneath the teeth and it is very nasty. What the study didn't say was that 99.9 percent of these cases were cancer patients whom they gave massive doses of Bisphosphonates intreveniously. The other 1 % may have had some other reason for getting this disease, I don't know and neither does anyone else for sure. As many as 1 in 4--it may be as high as 1 in 3 women will get Osteoporosis in their life time. There is no other proven cure or help for it but bisphosphonates. You start losing bone in middle age and more after menopause and lack of Estorgen. Another fact is that most people don't get enough calcium amd vitamin D in their diet. Calcium is the one thing that most people are deficient in. If your dentists wife wants to live in pain, with breaking bones and disfigurement that's her choice. For me I'll research, continue to keep up with any info I can find and take my Fosamax

Hello and thank you for sharing your experiences. Here I am having the same issue. Almost 5 months ago while I was on vocation with my family suddenly I felt a sudden weakness of both arms which it lasted for 30-40 seconds. Then in a month it happened again and again; randomly. I also have some difficulty breathing but non of them are related to each other. Shortness of breath happens mostly when I go to sleep and it goes away while the weakness of arms has no such a time or any other sign that helps me to figure out what and why i did go to the doctor and after many test and check ups no diagnosis. However my doctor said it could be from the stress Today I had two episodes in a row while I was working with a little boy ( I am an ABA provider) Lately though I have been thinking if it’s related to the heavy begs that I carry all day long since travel from Staten Island-Brooklyn-Manhattan and back ( using public transportation) Does anyone have any idea about what age am thinking about? Furthermore, today I read that Hypothyroidism must be one of the causes that might be connected to arm weakness

No numbing at all in my fingers. That's why I think it's not CT. Neo & Funky, I can't exercise or massage the area or it will start hurting. This morning after I posted, the pain got a bit better after the Tylenol, and I just now felt the area on my wrist and it brought the pain back. lol. Also Funky, by any chance did you drink milk as a kid? The only kid I know who seemed like he was constantly breaking something refused to drink milk. The doctor chalked it up to low calcium intake. Ded, could your son have Bursitis? I think that's common after breaks, and the pain is supposed to be horrible.
