Thanks Missa and Anne: You just wouldn't believe how much easier that bridge has made my life. I would squeeze, slip and slide whenever I needed to get to the other side of the settlement pond. There was only about 1 1/2-2 ft of room to navigate through. I just love it. Lisa: Thanks. I will try to post some pics of the red bridge's new "digs." I want the bottom of the flower boxes to hang down into the pond so I don't have to water them. I was thinking of maybe parrots feather, some impatiens or whatever can grow in water. Maybe some sweet potato vine that can trail over the edges. I bought six spikes and vinca vines at Marc's last weekend. I grew spikes in the very first floating planters and they took off like crazy. As a matter of fact I threw the planters in a pile for the winter and covered them with leaves and several spikes made it through the winter even though they are annuals. I don't know if million bells like to have their feet wet but I may try a few of them to see what happens. I was thinking of hummingbird flowers too. Maybe cardinal flowers, heliotrope, and lantana. I love pastel colors with green vines. If you have any suggestions let me know. Jenny

It is so nice to know that daylilies are blooming somewhere in the world:) Really like that Splendid Touch x Patmfsud seedling. The flowers in the background look like a great companion plant. These are so pretty and I see the sun shining in the back of the Solar Max seedling. It just warmed me up. It's not terribly cold here in southern Indiana/USA yet, but dreary, wet, and windy. Rosesr4me, PVC piping has temperature ratings which are printed on the piping and 180 degrees would soften the plastic piping. When water is heated it expands. As you can not control the maximum water temp the PVC piping would eventually burst open spraying hot water. If you were thinking on attaching to a wall hydrant/hose bibb, these are required to have a vacuum breaker which would open due to backpressure and drain the pipe/tank. You would have to build a "Substancial" system for any amount of safety. If the system is connected to the water supply, a Temperature and Pressure relief valve should be installed. Standard steel piping and fittings with ratings to 125 psi minimum should be used. an antiscald shower valve or mixing valve should be used with a cold water line included. You may want to run your project past the local plumbing inspections department too. Hope that helps, Dan Martyn

Cross-posted in lighting and landscape design. I need to be able to light sections of my yard that are not lit by the floodlights on the house. While most of the area is under trees, there are some small sections that are open to sunlight. The experimental area is about 300 ft by 60 ft. If these lights work, there are other sections that need light. I don’t care about motion sensors because wildlife and my dogs traverse the area. But, for example, if the dogs bark I need to be able to light the area manually from my house to determine if there is a threat. Most of the lights I’ve seen in my searches need to be affixed to a wall or a post(?) and have a downward stream of light. I would like to put these lights in the ground and have the lights directed horizontally. Wireless because moles and squirrels like to chew on buried or above ground wires and falling branches might break the wires; wires are also subject to being tripped on. Are there outdoor lights that would fit these criteria? Maybe I’m searching for the wrong thing. Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.
