Lasting Bronchitis with small streaks of blood...

I am a 23 year old female with asthma and allergies. I get bronchitis pretty often, so I try to keep an extra prescription for antibiotics, steroids, and a cough syrup on hold at the pharmacy. On July 27, I decided I had bronchitis and took what medicine I had (still come cough syrup from last time and picked up the antibiotics and steroids after consulting doctor).

On August 6, I went to the doctor because I had ran out of medicine but had not improved at all. At this point, I would notice a small streak of blood in the coughed up phlegm about once a day. I was given prescriptions for prednisone, Cephalexen, and cheratussin. I finished these with no improvemment. I am noticing streaks of blood a little more often (2-3 times daily).

On August 21, I went back to the doctor and had a chest xray done...no pneumonia to be found. I was given prescriptions for prednisone, Ciprofloxacin, and more cheratussin. Today every time I would work phlegm up (coughing or clearing throat) it had small streaks of bright red blood in it. I was told on the 21st that if this round of medicine doesn't help, we'll be doing a pulmonary function test.

I have never had so much trouble getting rid of bronchitis and have never had blood in my phlegm. Has anyone else had this? I think this is something other than bronchitis because of how tired I am and out of breath, but I could be wrong. What does this sound like to you guys?

I suffered from chronic bronchitis since I was 5 years old. I also had sinus problems and allergic rhinitis. And few other small allergies. Several months ago I was introduced to MMS. I just posted some info about it yesterday here.
Anyway, I do not have almost any problems now, sinuses clear, coughing gone,no wheezing, no runny red nose. I am left w/sneezing thou. Even my gastritis is gone. MMS- miracle mineral solution is able to get rid of viruses,bacteria, it kills malaria. It is very cheap and easy to take, althou it tastes bad.Do some research and try it. Antibiotics and prednizone IS NOT healthy!!!!!
I even learned about hydrogen peroxide therapy but never tried it. Supposedly the extra oxigen molecule helps clear lungs and all sorts of other problems. I am very happy w/ MMS.
Caughing up blood is not good, make sure there isn't something else, but really learn about MMS and try it. It is known to kill cancer cells too.

My husband has Bronchitis and Allergies. I don't even know but I think both you and him may have a bit of Asthma, but bronchitis acts much like Asthma anyway, so maybe not.

He like you coughed and coughed and often coughed up blood. Years ago a doctor said he had Bronchitis. My son has Asthma and is on an inhaler and we both thought that was what my husband should have, but getting him to go to a doctor is like pulling teeth.
6 years ago he had a very bad episode that wouldn't go away. He went to the doctor and he prescribed--Symbicort turbuhaler. It is a powder that is inhaled. The inhaler is very easy to use.

You would not believe the difference. Gone are the daily coughing episodes. Gone is the raspy breathing you could hear all over the house. Gone is the tightness in his chest and he doesn't even snore any more.

I received a surprise today from Chris (grolikecrazy)! Thank you. :) The plain letter envelope had holes in it- looks like it was damaged in transit. There was no bubble wrap or other padding inside of it to cushion the seeds. Seeds sent to me with no bubbles almost always do get destroyed like this, because the PO runs mail through some hard metal rollers unless it's in a bubble mailer marked FRAGILE in big red letters. :( The Dianthus barbatus seeds were about 75% destroyed and the Red Noodle Yard Long Bean seeds were completely dust. Thank you grolikecrazy, for kindly sending to me. I can still sow the few Dianthus seeds that made it, and hopefully get some plants! Excited about that. :) I'm sorry this happened, Chris. You were so kind to send seeds to me. I'm very glad you were thinking of me, and some of the Dianthus seeds do appear to be usable. It made my day to receive this, even if it is just a few seeds. : ) Thanks, Grovespirit Wondering why the surprises I mailed out haven't shown up here yet. I do hope they didn't get lost in the mail.

Kelly - are you by chance allergic to mold? I don't think I've ever had bronchitis, but I had sinus infections two years in a row. Knock on wood, but I am one who rarely has even a cold. Do take flu shots but dont' think I'm old enough for the pneumonia vaccine yet. Never had pneumonia either tho. My mold allergy got so bad though that I was tested several times for asthma. I don't have it but I was having times of wheezing. After antibiotics and several go rounds with predisone, my ENT said that I had to get my allergies under control. They also put me on singular which is used frequently with mold allergies (which apparently affects bronchial tubes). An inhaled cortinsone, an antihistime, an inhaled antihistimine and singular. I am happy to report that I am now on maintanance allergy shots and am taking meds only as needed (not often). My ENT and allergist love mucinex - it has been around for years in Robitusin. It thins mucus, making it easier to get it out. I'd really suggest to anyone having recurring bouts of bronchitis, sinus infections, etc. to see an allergist. It's made all the difference in the world for me. I'm a person who hates taking meds and especially antibiotics. Predisone has some very nasty side effects - you don't want to be taking it long term or often unless absolutely necessary. tina

I used to have a terrible amount of allergies and moved to Calgary for 5 years. While there, I had very, very little allergy problems. Since coming back, more than 20 years ago, I have had little problem until the last couple of years but have been taking antihistamine the last 2 years as well, and it has kept them mainly under control. I took shots for many, many years before going to Calgary. My mothers family had a history of weak lungs, too. Last winter was the first year that I can remember since a very young child of not having bronchitis or pneumonia. A nice change. Ole joyful, when do you have your ultra sound, or have you had it. Please, please ask your Dr. how active you can be. I've seen you running to the car, too. How do you do that at our age? You don't want a piece of this clot breaking off and moving to your heart or brain. Believe me, it can happen. I told you about my father. I'd terribly hate to see that happen to you. Put down the Kim Edwards book of short stories. They just weren't reading well and when it takes four or more days for me to finish a book, that's a sign of problems for the book (i.e. I don't like it). So now on to "Moral Disorder" by Margaret Atwood which will be a quick read. I am loving it so far. Going to a Witches' Brew tea party this afternoon. Thanks for the help. I've got asthma and use my inhaler, but it doesn't help with this. I've tried so many different medicines over the past couple of years for my bouts with bronchitis (of course, it's just acute bronchitis but I think I've nearly had it enough to count as chronic...maybe that's just the hypochndriac in me talking. lol). Symbicort is one medicine that I've tried multiple times with no success.

Well, anybody has a opinion and unless you try MMS and see what it does, don't call it a spam.
Go ahead and take piles of pills and chemicals and go ahead and get vaccinated too. And suffer.

I didn't want this to turn into a "medicine is bad, try this" kind of deal. I just wanted a couple of answers as to what this may be.
