I'm dating myself, but I grew up in Ohio with Cleveland's WMMS, which was then at the forefront of progressive rock radio, which no long exists thanks to the conglomerates. Don't know if the station is still there, but I'm sure it's a shadow of its former self.

I've been away from Ohio for many years, but have many happy memories.

Thanks goldgirl! Between you and Polly I should be set. :)) Polly was gracious enough to email me pictures of blooming azaleas this year and her pictures were absolutely gorgeous.

I'm actually thinking about visiting within the next month or so to see my DS who is there for the summer along with friends and relatives.

I'm trying my best to settle down here in OH after two 2 years but I get mad at myself because I still really really miss home. IMHO I should be over it by now. I'm truly blessed but I never thought being away from home would affect me this much and this long.

How's the job hunt coming?

Oh deborah, I am so sorry to hear that you're still missing home. I do understand though. I know NJ and I know Ohio. They are just two different worlds.

We lived in FL for six years and I really thought I didn't like classical music any more. Then, when I moved up here to MA, I was relieved to discover I just didn't like the kind of carp the station (only one to choose from!!) saw fit to play. Now that we have a "real" station...classical, jazz, world beat, etc...I am a happy camper.

As for pizza....well, I won't even go there!

deborah there's another way for you to skin that cat and get the music you love - Pandora. It won't get you any of the 'radio' talk but you can custom fit your music to your tastes. I love it and create varying 'stations' so I always have something to fit my mood. It's also a great way to discover artists that you otherwise might not hear. In addition to the new-to-me things placed in my queue, I regularly check out who else listens to my stations and what else THEY listen to. Kind of like going through the book lists at Amazon. I usually have it on any time I'm on the computer - right now I'm listening to DeVotchKa - my oldest son turned me on to them but it is an acquired taste ;-) And you can take Pandora with you in the car

Deborah - NJ 101.5 is online. Dennis & Michelle are great to listen to from 10am 2pm. If you're familiar with Dennis & Judy, Judy left last year to care for her autistic son. The old "Jersey Guys" are also no more, one of them took Imus's spot.

You are so right. My in laws live in Ohio. You can't pay me enough money to live there. I hated it. About the only thing I liked was their old house.

You guys are so sweet! I'm eating my lunch and decided to check in before I go back to work. Thanks so much for all of the suggestions and Rose you made me laugh out loud! OK, you can't laugh at me because of my radio station choices but I like hip-hop, R&B and all the old club, house and that type of music so I stream Kiss FM, Hot 97, Power 105 and WBLS. I know, I know I should know better with the hip-hop but I still like it. LOL!

Gold, my DS is in your neck of the woods in Stewartsville for the summer. You couldn't pay him to stay here in OH with us.

Seriously Ohio is great, just different and I'm trying. There was a street festival on saturday that encompassed one whole block, yet most of the surrounding area was closed off :)) Gotta love it! OK back to work I go.
