I'm in Mango Heaven!!

Thanks to a very sweet, kind and generous friend...I'm going to be enjoying some delicious Kent Mangoes. I just wanted to share with you a picture of my SURPRISE that came in the mail today, I even got some wonderful dried mangoes too!!

Thanks so much...I just cannot express enough how nice it was of you to send these :o)...you know who you are!

If Kent mangos are in mango heaven I don't even want to begin to imagine what's in mango hell.

Nice Pug! I've discovered that Kent are one of my all time favorites and your mango chips look very good too!

Fragrance is the major reason of my gardening. They must have a nice fragrance then I will start considering other factors before I choose to buy one and stick in my yard unless it has the significant quality. Right now I have a trellis by a front door all covered by star jasmine and I am in heaven too! Hi popmama, I am in east Denver. I have been here about 10 years and this is the first year I have attracted hummingbirds to my yard. We just moved but only a few blocks from where we previously were living. Our last yard was small with many flowers - No hummers. It might've been due to the fact we were on a corner and it was a more noisy location. We now are on a VERY quiet block, we have a larger yard...much more lush with many trees and bushes, we don't have any flowers planted yet this year as we are still settling in, but we do have 3 feeders. In the past 2 weeks my hummers have increased in number from 1 to approx. 6 or more!! Just keep your feeders out and make sure they are cleaned every 2 days in this intense heat we are getting - don't give up - they will come!

Dang. The preserved goodies are as good as gone already. And Nancy and I had the same taste in cookbooks for our baker swap partners - shall I just say Great Minds Think Alike?? So the only thing left I can lay claim to is that GORGEOUS wooden basket. However, it sounds like I'll have to fight Jessy for it. Which I am fully prepared to do. I'm 6' tall - how tall is Jessy? I'm thinking leg wrestling, which I will win, or perhaps just a plain ol' knock down. It would be worth it for that basket! Yeah, I can take 'er. Pretty sure.

LOL, nothing "gentlemanly" about me, but let's just say a "rough diamond" (hopefully). When looking for property I wanted something large enough but not too large, and no mangos. There are lots of mango orchards here, it's one of our regions largest industries. But fell in love with the property itself. Still kept my day job but thought I should at least try the mango business since the trees were already there. Only had 560 trees, you really need a minimum of about 2000 to be viable, better still 10,000. And there are a lot like that or bigger here, some over 100,000 trees. I still like eating mangos, sharing them with friends, and also inevitably sharing them with the wildlife. All in all it works out well. I've found automatic irrigation is the way to go. I work away from home for extended periods and the watering comes on at night when evaporation is lowest. The mangos aren't irrigated at all now.

Murahilin, in my own little world there is NO mango hell,lol...only purgatory...and only if Tommy Atkins and turpentine mangoes are the only ones available to eat :o)

Mango hell for me would be fields of beautiful trees of all different colored and sized turpentine flavored burlap mangos.

sounds like a twilight zone episode.

Kents are good mangos, i will take one over Tommy, Haden and Keitt any day. i love the symmetry of an old Kent tree especially full of vibrant red fruit. for its time it was the mango to have

Mango hell would be the Tommy mango. This mango smell like heaven but taste is so awful. My friends and I tried it and it was nasty after the first bite. Just never ate a mango like that before.

I think mango hell is located at my local grocery store. They only sell unripe/rotten or rock hard, tasteless turpentines. Eat one of those for me Puglvr!
