A message of Hope

Hi. I've been lurking for a few days and want to say how much inspiration and friendship I feel from your posts.

My Father died five years ago (December 4th) of a sudden heart attack and although time does heal the holidays can still get rough, especially for my Mum.

Anyway I saw this beautiful candle message and just wanted to come out of hiding to share it with you all.

All of this sounds like perfect grounds for a class action lawsuit but that is going to take a highpowered lawfirm to win. Unfortunately going up against a corporate superpower takes deep pockets and lots of spare time and i’m not willing to give up years of my life fighting. In the meantime i just keep advising anyone interested in a new machine to come look at mine, look at the low hours and i don’t have to say word. So far i have been pretty sucessful in spinning sales off to the competition. I can’t wait to get rid of this tinker toy. if there is someone out there willing to file I would be interested in signing on but unless everyone whom has experienced premature catistrophic failures is in, I think NH would bury you in legal fees

Nell, Sue, and Lu - Thank you so much for reaching out to me. I've always been the calm, cool, and in control person and I don't even know me anymore. I guess this is how the new me is formed? Sue, just this morning I saw the Memorial you posted and it was beautiful.I guess the Message of Hope and my posting had me too teary to notice it yesterday. I know it must have been a tough day for you. I'm sure your Mom really appreciated the beautiful poem and flowers and, mostly, you being there for her. My Dad died from complications of Alzheimer's Disease in September of 96. My husband died September 4th and his birthday was September 16th. Needless to say, when October rolled around I was so glad to get out of September! And, Lu, I think playing it by ear seems like a good idea. I did that at first - simply refused to make a plan if it wasn't for the next hour - but I guess I thought I should try to do as before and just see what happened. They say the only way to know your limits is to push them. My problem with Christmas is that one day I don't want to decorate at all and the next I want to go all out with decorations everywhere. Christmas was always such a big deal in our home. And I want my children to have at least some Christmas around them when they come to see me - even though they are grown! My son is 27 and daughter is 25 and I still worry about them and how they are dealing with losing the only dad they've really ever known. He was their step dad but after they finished their teenage rebellions they became really close to him. Nell, I will check into some of the programs here and see how that goes. Thanks for the suggestion. I know all of you have suffered losses and I'm sorry for the pain you've been through and are still going through. They say what doesn't kill us will make us stronger. Guess we'll all be pretty strong by the time it is done. I know the difference in the type of pain between losing a close parent and losing my husband; I cannot even begin to imagine the pain that would come from losing a child. I'm sending a prayer up for the three of you right now that today brings you sunshine and smiles and lightens your hearts. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the info. You are right the list is long. I found a thread in which everyone listed something about themselves and where they were etc. It was so interesting and darn it . I didn't save that page LOL then I spent another hour trying to find it again. I finally gaveup ..had to make DH his supper. thank you very much ladies :))))) when i looked through my old pictures, i'm surprised that i actually did so many things with roses... believe me... there are some more! phonegirl... ooo that's a lot of pies! you mean 6 normal sized ones or little ones ... man... all those food sound real yummy! jan, you saw the cabinet! yea... i really enjoyed doing that. playing with texture paint and all... makes me feel like a sculptor!!!! but the process was really meditative and time just flies when you're doing it. because i like to paint (or craft) in the night when everything is quiet...i ended up sleeping at 6 am in the morning!

I'm so glad you liked it and that I could offer something of comfort. Your stories and strength really help especially at the holidays.

The candles were quite inspiring - just beautiful. Thank you for sharing this. I thought it was a pretty powerful message.

Sue, I am also so sorry for the loss of your father. It is so hard to lose our parents who loved us unconditionally, always.

Thank you. It's five years tomorrow since Dad's sudden departure and although I know he is still with me spiritually, phsyically it does still hurt - I was a real Daddy's little girl :)

Thank you for the link; it is beautiful. I've been feeling very hopeless and today is a rough day. It was September 4th when my wonderful husband died unexpectedly. Each month on the 4th I walk around with a dark cloud over my head and I have to wonder how long this goes on and is it normal to feel this way on the death date each month? I question if I'm doing this to myself - I think that my misery is the only thing that is familiar anymore. I've decided to try a few couseling sessions and see if that helps me any because I've had a couple of episodes lately that seem to be close to panic attacks. I still can't believe that my soul mate is gone and I miss him so much. I tried to do the "normal" Thanksgiving thing and shopping with my daughter the day after and that was all a foolish mistake. There's nothing normal going on here. I meant to put up the tree that weekend and I still haven't and may not. Part of me wants to drag everything out and decorate the house all over the way we have for the 19 Christmas holidays we shared. The other part of me wishes I could go to bed and sleep until next year. Any words of wisdom for me out there?
