How to include photos in a post (revised 7/19/11))
Comments (13)Another web place to host pictures is with your ISP. My ISP gives me free webspace as part of my account. Its not a ton of space and its not easy to see how much space is left with my ISP. Yours may vary. Uploading can be super easy. I had an FTP client built into my desktop (cuteFtp) that was integrated with Windows explorer such that I could right-click on the file and have an option to Upload to My webspace. (I had to pre-size by hand though.) Then when I upgraded my desktop, cuteFTP was no longer working and I never got around to figuring it out. I have other FTP clients I can use to move files there. Nearly as easy, but no right-click. Probably ISP webspace is not for the average user, but a potentially easy option for some....See MoreHow to include photos in a post (revised 8/7/11)
Comments (10)DtD: I thought that I'd covered that in this section: "Desirable sizes are either "thumbnails" which some hosting sites provide, or something close to 640 X 480 pixels. "Medium" or "Small" varies from program to program, so don't rely on it. (see corunum/Jane's discussion in the previous thread)." I'll try to make it stronger in the next revision, probably using the 640 X 480 pixels size as a maximum (unless someone has a better suggestion). Of course, these are just recommendations, and people can't be forced to abide by them. I don't want to make the process onerous, I'd rather someone just get a photo posted for the first time even if it's really big, and then the next ones can be posted in a more suitable size. Once they're past that first hurdle of posting they can work on the details. Claire...See MorePosting Pics - Easy Instructions
Comments (8)And, Dailycollector - have you thought that you can "copy" any msg in the forum and then save it in your Word program (like Microsoft Word) for future reference and you won't have to go searching for certain msgs. Again, it's simple - open up the msg you want to copy, such as the pic instructions I posted above, highlight my whole msg, minimize down your online page, open up a blank page in your Word program, put your cursor on the blank page where you want the msg to appear, go to Edit, then Paste. You can then "Name" and "Save" this as a Word document for easy looking later on. Let's say you want to copy the the second part I just posted about the URL Link - minimize up your online page, find that msg, again highlight all of it, Edit, go back to your Word document, put your cursor where you want it to appear, Edit and Paste, Save your Word document. Pics also, you can save a copy of a particular pic you like from someone's msg and then copy it into your Documents where you have your pics. Put your cursor on the pic, right click and then you can either "Copy" it into a Word document page and Save it (as I posted above), or hit "Save As" which will open up your Documents, find the File you want to Save it into, Name it, then hit Save. Viola - now you're a pro. ENJOY!!! Sal (I should also mention - be careful in what you copy though, make sure things are "copyrighted" - you don't want to get into trouble. You can copy any of my msgs, they aren't copyrighted, HA!...See MoreBig or little remodel?
Comments (12)Honestly, the overall layout doesn't look too bad. There seems to be good space around the range. The aisles look pretty good. The cabinets look nice and look to be in good condition. However, the two tier island is obviously not functioning for you. Additionally, the fridge placement looks a little odd to me. Perhaps you could consider making some minor layout changes using the existing cabinetry. You could rearrange the fridge wall to move the fridge to the outer end of the kitchen giving additional counter prep space across from the sink. You should be able to cut down that knee wall behind the island and make a single tier island with more leg room with a deeper counter. You might even be able to move the sink to one end or the other on the island if you want a single wider section of counter space. Personally, I would try to keep the cabinetry and consider doing minor layout changes but keep the overall footprint to save the flooring as well. You could get some bids to give you an overall idea of cost in order to determine whether you can afford it now or want to just wait....See MoreDavidrobert1
