Okay this sounds weird, but it's the only thing that works for me...every morning I put a small wad of cotton between the offending toes (for me it's the little toe and the next one on each foot. Been doing it for a year, no cracking unless I forget for more than a couple of days. Dries out the toe, keeps it apart. I do not use anything else, and only a small amount of a cottonball. WOrth a try!!!

Various things, most of which boil down to "keep feet DRY and clean".

Don't wear the same pair of shoes more than a day, then let them dry and air out.

Wear wool or cotton socks. If you have to wear stockings, take them off as soon as -possible Sandals are great.

Go barefoot as often as possible.

Let your feet dry totally after a shower before you put shoes on. Use a blow-dryer if you have to.

Make sure you have EVERYONE you share a house with is treated at the same time as you ... they may have a milder case and reinfect you.

Is it possibly another fungal infection, not athlete's foot? Have you seen a dermatologist?

My husband and me had similar problem - until I started to put little toilet paper between my "bad" toes after each shower.It stays there for 10-15 minutes until all area is perfectly dry. It has helped almost immediately. My DH did the same and we are athlete's foot free for quite a time.

Here's the expensive route. Hubby had the toenail fungus and had had it for years. Dr. said try prescription Lamisil--the oral meds. for 6 months. It's hard on the liver so he had to do blood work to keep an eye on things, but it really helped the toe nails AND it got rid of his jock itch and athlete's foot. Now the only thing he has trouble with is his feet crack occasionally underneath, but a little vaseline for a couple nights in a row helps a lot. I wish he'd do another round of it and then the toenails would be clear, but it is expensive....

I've heard that Vick's can take care of fungus like athletes foot. My DH has fungus toenails and started using vick's each night and it is about half cured. I just wish he would remember to do it every night. He is getting lazy about it.
At least that is a cheap solution.

Either you aren't treating long enough to truly get rid of it, you are getting reinfected, it's become resistant to the OTC products (especially since you've been treating so long off and on) or it isn't athlete's foot. In any case, a trip to a doctor is probably worth it if you can afford it/have insurance.

I used to get athlete's foot at the school gym. As soon as my feet got the least bit itchy, I'd soak them in 1 part bleach to 10 parts water for 5 minutes a day for a couple of days in a row. Then I got smart and stopped walking around the locker room in bare feet. Never got it again.

Spray inside of shoes with Lysol spray.
Wear a different pair of shoes each day of the week. This will allow shoes time to dry good between wearing.
Use hair dryer to dry between toes.
Wear cotton socks. Fresh pair each day.
Treat longer than symptoms in order to be sure it is clear.

WORD OF WARNING! Using bleach can cause chemical burn. My mother misunderstood the doctor and soaked my dad's feet in too strong bleach water. His feet swelled and burst open due to severe chemical burn.

soak your feet into vinegar for 30-45 minuet, do for couple time that will get rid of the athlete's foot problem! An old Navy Doctor told me that, vinager kill bacteria and also rejuvenate thick dry foot skin also.

Here is a remedy my SIL used for her toenail fungus and after successfully ridding herself of that, my brother used the same method to control his athletes foot.----
She initially soaked her feet in warm water with Listerine added, approximately enough water to cover with a quarter to half cup of Listerine. It took a while to completely get rid of the fungus but did work and is not as harmful as the prescription medication. She later purchased a foot whirlpool that she says works and feels better.

my question: i want to swim in a public pool and i am afraid i am going to infect someone... is there such a thing as a rubber sock which a person can wear while walking in locker rooms and swimming in pools.? any one heard of anything like this.?

Stick toilet paper between your toes if its a skin problem. Problem solved. I REPEAT: STICK TOILET PAPER BETWEEN YOUR TOES ITS THE BEST [it cured my athletes foot within 2 days] If its under the toenail or whatever you probably need some kind of ointment.

I was able to reduce my infections by doing obvious stuff like being careful about not wearing the same socks twice, also rotating the wearing of shoes to allow the moisture to dry properly before wearing them again and of course to ensuring my feet were totally dry after showering - use a fresh towel each time, so I would recommend these but my infection still was an ongoing chore though till until I tried probiotics supplements which for me improved the condition of my skin and stopped the infections taking hold. Athletes foot is not nice to live with so I hope this helps?

A trick that worked for me is to crush or cut-up some garlic, then wrap it in some gauze and apply to the affected area (or you can apply it straight to the affected area, if you don't care about staining your socks and getting garlic crumbles in your shoes.) If you leave it too long it will burn your skin and may turn the area a bluish-green color.

Some of the antifungal tools are: hydrogen perodixe (very soothing to the skin & it brings oxygen to tissue & kills bacteria), milk of magnesia (it works by keeping the skin dry ... folks us it as underarm deodorant as in MOM).

Iodine is also an anti-fungal. Local drugstore and grocery sells tiny bottle of NON-STAINING iodine for only 96 cents. Apple cider is also an anti-fungal, but it's NOT as soothing as hydrogen peroxide.

A friend told me try urinating on your foot when in the shower. The ammonia will kill the fungus. I have tried it with varying luck. I will have to try some of your remedies as well. I have tried swapping out shoes regularly, putting toilet paper between my little and next toe (where I get it), changing socks a couple times a day, using spray on and powder treatments, letting my feet air out without socks. I think a lot is that I have a wide foot and most shoes squish my toes together and don't let them breathe. I also walk my dog a lot, for her not me and work up some sweat doing it.

Friends, I respect all of the above: But this is what really worked for me after trying different things: VINEGAR. Sure it smells a little but boy oh boy it cleared up the itching and welts immediately and works all day. I simply pour a capful into my shoes or spray it in the shoe. It also worked for my "heat rash" on my calves, which may have been fungal also. I am sharing this because it really worked after trying many other cures including epsom salts, soaps, regular anti-fungal creams. Go down to the store get a one dollar bottle of vinegar and try it. Tell others.

I accidentaly stumbled on a fix for my athletes foot and belive it or not it seems to work (well for me at least) and it just as simple as Vosene Original hair shampoo

I spilt some on my foot and washed it of but then if felt different so I thought what the hell ill try it again so i just when i washed my hair i rubbed the bubbles onto my foot and now after years of not been able to control it ,it now is sort of under control no more big flare ups (although I still get the ocassional itch but nothing like it was all the dry skin has now gone and my foot feels a 1000% better)

I had that problem for years also. I think spraying your feet everyday with a anti fungal will stop it. Do research and try everything.

Neem Seed Oil. Put on effected area twice a day. Works like a charm. Athletes foot is caused by yeast. You might want to evaluate your diet. :)

I used pure aloe vera plant. I cut it in half and rubbed the inside slimy stuff from the plant. It's a natural remedy and it works. I used it for a few nights in a row and it went away.

I had athletes foot for 6 months and nothing worked until I started using apple cider vinegar. It was painful at first but gradually got better. I would put cotton balls dipped in acv with duct tape on the infected area 24/7. It took two weeks to completely heal the athletes foot but finally did. It was frustrating not being able to cure athletes foot so try this I know it will work for you too cause fungus can't survive in an acidic environment.

Every time I've gotten athlete's foot in the past, and the same for anyone else I know, we soak our feet 1 time for 30 minutes in vinegar while scratching the scale off of the infection site and the issue is resolved until you contract it again. You'll know it is working when it starts stinging because that means the vinegar has penetrated to a layer of nerve endings. Helpful tip for this method is to use a bread pan to minimize vinegar usage and is much more comfortable than bending your toes back the whole time in some sort of mixing bowl.

Melaleuca Essential Oil mixed with a little coconut oil after you shower then put clean socks on. Melaleuca is a great anti fungal and will clear up athletes foot, nail fungus etc. I recommend doTERRA brand because I know it’s pure oil with no additives
