Treasure is right that chosing artwork is very personal and hard to do for someone else unless you know them well. Personally I love holly-kay's idea of using something other than a framed piece of traditional art like china or a pretty tray. Maybe a shelf with some silver candlesicks or cut glass jars filled with pretty soaps? Maybe you even have some lovely or meaningful items you could use already. For framed artwork The New York Public Library Digital Library has a huge collection of artwork you can browse through to use as inspiration or even download and print low resolution images (see link below for tips from the Creativity Exchange on using the images) And just because you pick something now, doesn't mean you can't change it out later if you tire of your first choice or find something you love more. You could even purposely chose two options and display one with brighter colors for spring and summer and the another for fall and winter. I know the thought of choosing two when you can't chose one seems daunting, but I have found the freedom from having to find "the one" lets me focus on what makes me happy. Happy hunting!! Thanks for the opinions ... Yes, the turtle wall hanging, or it could be a bowl or platter (but with the flaw, it's not food safe). I do really like turtles, but it's more of their a happy association with the trips I've taken to Hawai, not like a decorating obession or anything. My house is small, so I only have a limited amount of space, so no place for the turtle except this one place in my bathroom. The whale triptych (actually 4 pieces, not sure what that is called) behind it is absolutely gorgeous, and what originally caught my eye. But too big for the space, and way out of the range I'm willing to spend (and overpriced, to be honest) 1 hr until the craft fair closes down ....hmmm ....

OK, after I saw MagdalenaLee's shower curtain I don't feel so bad about my insect themed bathroom. This is kind of my "reveal" from another post. I was looking for a small bathroom rug because my space is too small for most of the over-the-counter rugs out there. I was initially thinking of a "northwoods" theme but found this rug below, loved it, and decided to go with it. It was PERFECT (except for when it wasn't) Really toned down the blue/pink vibe in the room from the flooring that has to stay for now. BUT, once I washed it, it faded, and now won't lay flat, ends curl. Color variation not due to lighting, due to fading. Big disappointment. But the colors and general aquatic insect theme are working for me, so I'm just going to wait until the next good rug comes along. The picture below is of a little stream called the Weise, in our town's sister city in Germany. I have hiked along the stream, and the picture was a gift from some exchange visitors my folks hosted many years back. Not great art but meaningful. It doesn't have a searing hole in the middle, that's just my bad photo lighting. My mom went to the photo exhibit for the caddisfly picture and brought me back a poster which I framed. I have another picture of a spider web but don't have a photo of it yet.

I love the looks of that! Not sure our thin little glass door could accommodate it, but it has such a nice, spa-like look to it. I could always add a decorative hook to the right of the shower on the narrow strip of (non-tiled) wall there. I mocked it up and think it looks fine. The only truly "convenient" solution here is the Command hook on the tile to the other side, but that's so ... meh.
