You might want to take advantage of the upcoming plant swap from the PNW exchange forum -- this coming Saturday (3/6) and in Redmond, so not far from you :-) Otherwise, both of these grasses will be readily available at local area nurseries - the KF in early season and the blood grass later on. They're called root primordia or adventitious roots and if the stems that have them were in contact with soil roots would form in the soil. Carolyn
