Pain in my side

Started over the weekend. I went to bend down, and got this pain on my right side, between my stomach and my back. It figures that it happened 2 days after I was at the doctor for something else! Don't know if it's just a gas pocket, or something else.

I hope it was a gas pocket and you're feeling fine.

If not, what kind of pain is it (throbbing, stabbing, pinching)? Can you describe more where it is (armpit to lower chest/lower chest to waist/waist to hip) and then front to back (from middle of front to middle of back)?
Have you called the Dr. since?

I think it's a gas pocket. I started taking glucosamine on Friday, started getting the pain on Saturday. Don't really feel the pain today, but can feel gas pressure.

lou..make another appt with your dr. if h/she is a gp, ask for a referral to an obgyn...at least your anxiety will be resolved. i had a shorter than 28 day cycle...and at 60 just had a d&c, fibroids again...

Went to the DRs on Thursday. I still have the UTI and was put on more antibiotics. He swears I will be ok, and also sent me to the lab for hormone testing. I will know in a few days about that. I haven't had any hot flashes or sweats at night for three nights not, I am beginning to think it is related to the UTI because I am still running a low grade fever. I still have a slight burning sensation in my back, but it is now more localized in the kidney area......geeze...this is a scarey thing and I want to thank you all for your responses. I still am on high anxiety, and the DR feels that it has something to do with perimenopause, because he say's UTI's are common at this time. Shoot me....

Earthlydelights, your story was just terrifying. Thank God you & your son were OK. Moosemac, I love you! I have been very, very lucky and have never had any serious kitchen incidents but I did have a close call with the griddle on my new, gas stove, paired with me making french toast first thing in the AM while wearing my jammies & no bra. As I leaned forward to put the slices at the back of the (24" deep) griddle I realized that this could possibly end very, very badly. I vowed never to cook without first having coffee (and a bra). My first actual accident was due to the fact that every single knife in my mother's house was dull to the point that the handles would probably cut better than the blades themselves. So here I am married, with my nice new knives and I learned right away why you should never cut down towards your finger. Did you know that knives with actual sharp edges don't just bounce right off skin? The mandoline with the taste for blood...love it! Nina

It could be just gas pain. It could also be a muscle spasm.

Do consider the possibility, though, that it's a broken rib. I broke a rib a month ago. I was doing twisty type crunches and suddenly I felt a pain in my left side, about halfway down. I got a bone density test a week later, and it was low, indicating that I have osteopenia, the precursor to osteoporosis.

This was a shock. I'm not that old, and I eat plenty of dairy.

I had rib pain so severe that I thought I had a broken rib. I went to my doctoer and he took xrays, nothing was broken. He took one look at my back and told me I had shingles! I have been at home for a week now and am still breaking out. It sure does hurt just like broken ribs.
