Quailhunter, I don't know that I've ever seen it happen, but some curcubits are known to be parthenocarpic at times, and therefore, do set fruit without pollination. If your squash truly has performed parthenocarpically and set fruit without pollination occurring, you'll know it because the resulting squash should be seedless (or have tiny non-functioning seeds) when mature. And, when you say the squash keeps growing, I assume it doesn't get to a certain point and fall off like non-pollinated squash usually do? When you harvest one and cut into it, if it has seeds, then pollination did occur and something malfunctioned after that point....like the flower failed to drop or something. Dawn

George, Comparing your average rainfall most years to your rainfall this year, y'all are practically in a drought. (And, no, I'm not kidding.) Every week when I look at the U. S. Drought Monitor, I wonder how many more weeks it will be before Tahlequah starts showing up in the yellow area. It is very dry here too. Moisture-wise, we look better statistically on paper than it really is....because that total of 18 or 19" that fell in a a 4 or 5-week period in late April and part of May was a lot of rain, but unfotunately it was too much at once and a lot of it ran off instead of soaking in. When it is not raining in Tahlequah, I think we're all in trouble. Dawn

HI All, I'm rebuilding my old deck and I am using a chevron pattern for the lower deck boards. Trouble is if I use only a single 5.5" deck boards for the break I need to buy 16' deck boards and I'll have almost 4' of waster for each board. If I use 2 5.5" deck boards I'll be able to get away with 12' deck boards with very little if any waste. I Just don't know if it will look odd so I'd like to get some ideas before I start. I have 2 Bosch DWs and have used them regularly for almost 4 years. If I notice anything a little funky smelling, I do a cancel/drain or a quick rinse and then drain and clean the filters -- couple or few times a year perhaps. Not an every load issue at all. The only time I've had a real stinker was with stuff sitting in my disposal. I was about to make a service call when I did another round of filter and disposal cleaning. I stuck my hand down each to see if anything was stuck -- found a glob of mystery gunk which I suspect to have been chicken fat or something similar wrapped around the center of the prep sink disposal. I have more faith in DW design engineers than I do installers and even half the repairmen. I've watched too many of them in action. There is a reason for the smell and you may need to play detective, do some cleaning (I've heard lemonade drink mix packets work too and you may have that rather than buy Tang) and check your installation and drain work. I've never used a DW cleaner or drink mix in either DW, but I'd try it before making a service call.
