It's not for everyone but has really worked for me...I gave my really great toaster away and replaced it with a toaster oven. While not the same footprint, I did get a twofer. I use the TO much more frequently than I did the toaster alone and my full-sized ovens have been relegated to pan storage and Thanksgiving dinner.

Mine is about 10 years old and still works great. There's been many times when I had something thick, like a bagel or long, usually my homemade bread, that I could not have toasted if the slots were smaller.
I'm glad they still make this style as you never know when your toaster may quit... :)

Here's another vote for a toaster oven. They are so versatile & save heating up the big oven when all I want is to bake a couple of potatoes or a few biscuits, heat coffee cake, or even toast large slices of sourdough bread. I had a DeLonghi for about ten years, & now have a Black & Decker that I found at Sears. I think it was about $50.

Dualit 2-slice. There is nothing to break. It is all mechanical. We've had it for at least 5 years. It is as good as the day we bought it.

The KA website doesn't give you the model number. Go to the Krups website and find the Krups model number, then search Amazon for that model. I looked at one and it has mixed reviews.

I think you want the impossible. You can still get a Proctor cheapie for about $20, and toss it when it dies. I find the $$$ toasters can be a bitter dissapointment because we all have finicky ideas of good toast and if your new expensive one fails your personal test, then what?

Anyway, why does everyone fall in line behind the idea that you need to spend a lot on a toaster? Maybe you do, but I think it's because Williams Sonoma put out a line of toaster talk.

We tossed out last Krups toaster after a short time. Replaced it with a Cuisinart toaster oven that makes better regular toast than we've had for quite a while, and has more versatility. I just got whatever Costco had at that time *which is probably different now,) But yu can always retun it (up to 90 days) if you don't like it.

I love my DeLonghi toaster oven for everything EXCEPT making toast! I have yet to have or use a TO that actually makes really good toast. The old "sneaky" Sunbeams are wonderful. Mine is still working after 40 years with only 1 repair,; but it's in the basement. My husband did not like the fact that the slots were too narrow for bagels or baguettes. So we have a similar looking "Classic" Cusineart beside the TO. Has made great toast for about 8 years.
