Hello fellow TPOers- I have to put this aside for now- more pressing decisions to make. But one last word: Rebecca: If you like the bell jar lanterns in the last photo that you posted- go for it! You don't need to obsess about matching your peninsula chairs to the finish on your pendants. Ha Ha! I know you already are obsessed, but honestly I think you could make those work. How many inches are they? That will determine how high you would need to hang them above the peninsula. I would guess and say in the photo above they hang about 3 inches before the top part begins. Now because your ceilings are 7 1/2' you may need a smaller pendant- do these come in different sizes? Note the photo of Nini's kitchen that I posted above- her lanterns are very close to her ceiling. I'm not sure of the height of her ceilings as she is not on the FKB. Do you like the way hers look? Now I've added one more photo. Do these pendants look familiar? Is this what you are going for??? Decisions, decisions.....Good luck and let me know what you decide. PS How is the demo going?

Erasmus, I really don't need glasses even for reading. What I do need is good light. I had my vision corrected by lenses for distance because I exercise and want to see the teacher from the back row and also because I possess a dose of vanity. I'm on the ol' computer machine a lot, and when I'm not I'm reading. For that I use common readers I pick up at my bookstore or drugstore. The optometrist gave me the reading to look for, 2.25 for books, 2.50 for computer. The really big deal is my right eye has astigmatism much steeper lower than higher, and thus can never be perfectly corrected. However, as mentioned, compensation is your friend. I don't notice the difference in vision acuity left to right except in instances like this when I'm writing about it. Otherwise, according to an eye chart, I'm good to pass the driving test. I'm a big proponent of cataract surgery. I did ask, and my surgeon does about 500 a year for many years. I so appreciate the skill of Dr. Mohamed.

What I remember is that the optician seemed to be well informed about what was available and said they had access to every product family and product type from a variety of labs. He told me not to get hung up on brand names because each brand had a handful of different "geometries" to choose from and from even a given company some were better than others. He referred me to a new offering from one of the premium ones (I forget which, Zeiss or Seiko or another) that he said he'd been very impressed with because it had larger than normal uniform viewing area and had a quick transition. He said if I didn't like it, they would redo it with a different one. If you wound up unhappy with what you got, it's possible the optician didn't choose the model of that company what was most suitable for what you wanted or expected. Or didn't measure its placement well. It's possible that a different "model" of the same brand might have been better. I'm picky about these things. I was immediately won over by what he recommended. when I took delivery. As above, the backup pair I got from Costco came out as the optician there described - they're adequate but I wouldn't be happy with them as my everyday glasses. The viewing area is much smaller than with my regular pair.

@DeWayne Appreciate your advice and expertise on all of this! We have LED undermount lights, 2 pendants, and a handful of can lights, all on dimmable switches. Hopefully it's a matter of getting the right bulbs. @Lynn Lou Best of luck to you too! I feel like at least lighting is easier to change than cabinets that are already installed. @catspa_zone9sunset14 Woah - so many things to consider when choosing the right colors/undertones. Who knew glasses could also play into this? @homechef59 Yes! We have a few other friends weigh in and say it's the Ram Board. When we looked back at older photos of the kitchen when it was just the wood floor, we didn't notice the changing undertones as much. And I believe it some of that western sunset light hitting the bottoms that doesn't help matters. Hope this post will help anyone else who has this issue!
