I had this done and I have never been sorry. I didn't want a harsh black look. I had a softer thin line done. I have thyroid disease and as many thyroid patients do I had also lost the outer third of my eyebrows so I also had that done. I made certain that I researched the person who did mine. I did not want an unknown doing it as I had a friend who did that and ended up with the little turn up look on the outer edge. I went in for a consult, had a patch test done high on my hairline on the back of my neck and had her draw on what she would like to do. I approved, we took pictures and I went back one week later to have the procedure done. I had it done two years ago and had a touch up done this year. My cost for both upper and lower liner and brows was 600.00. My touchup this year was 100.00. It was the right decision for me. I love it!

vickij, thanks so much for sharing your experience with me. I'll definitely do my homework before deciding for sure about this. I've heard a couple of stories of eyeliner-gone-wrong, and I don't want that to happen to me! One woman told me that a friend of hers had it done, and the liner took on a bluish cast in a very short time. I don't want that happening! The price you state is actually about what I was thinking it would probably cost (just guessing). Can you tell me how it felt to have the procedure performed on your eyes? Did it hurt much? I know they apply a topical numbing agent, but I'd imagine you still feel at least some discomfort.

Vicki - my eyebrows are doing the same thing and the thyroid deal was mentioned, but mine is normal!!! A little low in the range, but still normal.

I'm not interested in the eyeliner, but maybe the brows. Am anxious to hear about your experience. Painful? Scabs? Natural looking?

I had searched online for a local clinic, found one, and sent an email inquiry this morning. I felt sure they wouldn't tell me pricing without my coming in for a consultation, but I just received this response, and am even more intrigued:

The eyeliner procedure is very popular and it is $375.00 for upper and lower lids, $275.00 for upper OR lower lids and includes one follow up visit and a lash enhancement which involves placing pigment down in the lash line making the lashes look thicker and darker. The procedure takes
about 1 1/2 hrs to complete and there is a little down time involved. The eyelids can be a bit puffy and tender for a couple of days, and then the pigment looks a little bit dark and harsh for about 5 days. During that time, you cannot camouflage it with any other makeup. Since I am a
registered nurse I can use stronger anesthetics than non licensed practitioners. The topical I use for eyelids is very good and about 99% of clients say they feel only a strange vibration type of feeling, maybe a little stinginess in the corners, but nothing unbearable.
The best thing for you to do is call my office and schedule a complimentary consultation. That way you can meet with me, look through some before/after photos, and ask any questions you might have.

My friend had permanent lipstick done several years ago and it never looked right, which made me suspicious of the idea, but my brother in law has the eyeliner and it always looks great. His eyebrows are done, too, but I haven't asked him if they are permanent or if he just draws them on that perfectly every time. I'm afraid if I bring it up with him, he'll tell me I need it!

I had brows, eyeliner and lips done about three years ago. Don't think I'd recommend the lips as it was uncomfortable and no real difference (maybe it was lipliner and not the entire lips; I don't remember for sure). Love the brows and liner. No regrets. I asked for a "liner enhancement", a very thin line close to the lashes, rather than full eyeliner. I haven't had any fading but suspect will need a touch-up at some point. I *think* the price was around $350 for liner and brows, but I don't honestly recall the exact amount. It is really great to wake up in the a.m. looking o.k. w/out make-up and being able to eliminate those steps once I get to applying make-up. Good luck!!

I had brows and eyeliner done 2 years ago, my eyeliner needs retouching I think, although it's a great template for when I want to fill it in darker a bit.
I need to find a recommended person in this new city I live in, not easy.

There is pain when they do it and there is scabbing, specially the brows, the first week looks like you took a black sharpie and drew your brows, you must keep putting the ointment on them constantly, until the scabs start coming off on their own. So plan ahead and do it when you don't have anything special or social to attend for the week after the procedure. I felt fine but I looked odd for that week.

I would do it again though, it was worth it.

I've located a couple of places in my area that do this, and they're priced about the same, so I may just go and consult with each place and see if I feel comfortable at either of them. I'm still not 100% certain that I'll go through with having this done, but I do remain intrigued. I think I'd probably want more of a "liner enhancement" like funnygirl chose, since I'm blonde with light lashes, and I don't want to look strange when I'm not wearing mascara. The downtime will be something I'll have to work around. I can't go to my job with swollen, red eyes, so this would have to be done at a time when I can be away from the office for a few days.

They use a numbing cream before the procedure so there was no pain at all for me. I could feel an occasional teeny pinch but that is it. It was very tolerable. I did forget to tell you that it looks much darker when it is first done. Don't freak out! I had to use A & D Ointment for the first few days. There was minimal scabbing in my eyebrows. I was able to put my contacts in the next day. I went back one week later and she did touch ups to all of the areas. I chose not to have my lips done because I am able to tell when I see someone who has had it done. I feel certain that no one would know that I have had my eyes done. Not that I would care if they knew, I am just saying that it looks so natural.

This makes me ask a question I was wondering about recently. Why when you have an MRI do they ask if you have tatoos or permanent eyeliner? Are you unable to have an MRI if you have these things?

Just a warning, my very blonde sister-in-law had her brows done a few years ago. They look great when she is inside.

Out in the sunlight they look green.

We tip-toed around who would tell her for many months....I finely told her husband, my brother, that he HAD to tell her. He did.

I don't know if they have been fixed or not, I'll see her at the beach in a few months.
