Can this leather sofa be saved?

I have a leather sofa in my family room that unril about 2 weeks ago was in great shape. Unfortunately, my boys came home from swim practice, showered, dressed and flopped on the sofa to watch tv.

About a week ago, I noticed 2 large stains on the back of the sofa, went closer to investigate and realized that they are big water stains from their wet heads. THe big concern is that they don't seem to be drying, the leather still feels moist and I am at a loss how to treat this!

I can set up heat lamps and direct them at the stains, would that be a good idea? Should I treat the stains with something before I try to heat dry them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Use a wet/dry vacuum cleaner to pull the water out, sounds like the padding underneath is still wet. Pull out as much as you can then put a fan to it for a few days, you should be ok. DONT treat it with anything or put any kind of heat to dry.

I'm sorry I did not get back to this post earlier. Fortunately, the stains are slowly drying and it is looking more and more like the original finish.

Do you think Murphys Oil Soap would be best so it would condition the leather or should I use palmolive which would have a grease cutting agent in it? It actually isn't as white as it looks - that was the camera flash making it look bright. It is a little hazy - but almost like a powdery beginning to mold look..... I've seen the same sort of mold/mildew on leather leadshanks that have gotten wet and been left in a cool barn, that is what it sort of reminds me of. Plus, it is definitely still moist and the family room is downstairs where it does stay cooler. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm not sure if I should heat dry it then clean it or clean it and risk getting it wetter and THEN heat dry it......

Can the couch be saved?

We have a Rowe Couch that my wife and I bought about 6 years ago. To put it simply, we love this couch and it is the most used furniture in the house. However, it is showing its age. It creaks (I'm afriad that the kids jumping on it may have broken something) and all the cushions have seen better days. The fabric and appearance is still really great! Do you think its worth getting fixed (e.g., perhaps getting all the cushions redone?)? What is a fair price for doing this type of work in the Washington DC area? Thanks in advance.

I dont think your looking at a H&M sofa their. Their should be a label under the seat cushion for the manufacturer, H&M labels all their upholstery. You should be able to buy a hardwood frame sofa, that is double dowelled glued and screwed, sinuous 8 gauge seat springs, Ultracell seat cushions, covered in a durable microfiber fabric, this fabric and cushions would last at least 10 years, the frame, 20 years, all for about $750.00. We have stayed in many vacation rentals and never choose places with dated, trashed looking furniture. That couch would cause me to scroll on by if I were looking online. We are willing to pay a premium for nicely furnished places and treat them respectfully. If you invested a bit in new furnishings, you could charge more and I’ll bet the place wouldn’t be as likely to get trashed. Don’t forget about the great leverage that a security deposit provides as well.
