Although I am sure the Original Poster has long since run screaming from the forum, I think we should revisit the actual information that she gave us. -They are building a 5500 sq ft house -It has at least 4 bathrooms and possibly more. -They are a couple, they intend to entertain and have overnight guests. -There wasnt any mention of childrenÂbut they shouldnÂt be discounted now or in the future or by a future owner. -The husband would like to save some money on operational costs -The wife would like to keep things simple and not have to wait for hot water. -There was no mention of trying to be "green"  a smaller footprint doesnÂt seem like a motivating issue. -There was no specific information on fixtures (such as spa tubs or showers). -There was no information on utilities. They live in NC, but we donÂt really know winter water temps. Given this information, we canÂt make specific design recommendations. If, for example, they have a multi-head shower, that would change things. They will need to have someone who is knowledgeable weigh both types of systems. However, we can make some assumptions and make general recommendations. To begin with, I think itÂs reasonable for a house this size to support four people getting ready for work and/or school at the same time. Normal showers are 2-2.5 gpm. A standard bathroom faucet is 1 gpm. ItÂs not unreasonable to expect the water system in this house to support 2 showers and two faucets at the same time or roughly 7 gpm of hot water. That could be any other combination such as filling the tub @ 4gpm and running the dishwasher or whatever. The point is that if they are building a house this large and expensive, this couple is not going to be happy with a system that makes them shower one at a time. They arenÂt going to want to coordinate the dishwasher and their guests bathing. Now, making an assumption about water inlet temps, I would guess that a system that could deliver 7gpm at 50 degree temp rise would be in the ballpark. There are gas fired units that can do that with one unit or it could be two units. These would save about 25% - 30% over a traditional gas water heater in operational costs. The largest residential Rheem unit outputs 6.6 GPM at 50 degrees and is roughly $1000 with a basic vent kit. The Rinnai 98i will do 8 gpm at 50 degrees and is about $1500 + vent. If I didnÂt have gas available to the home, I wouldnÂt go tankless. In this application, thereÂs no point to electric tankless because there are no operational savings and because continuous hot water wasnÂt something they said they wanted. Now, if this were my house, I would go with two of the largest Rheem units  just to handle the largest demands (and we are still talking $2k) and I would install hot water recirculating pumps on the areas furthest from the heaters. I would control the pumps with both a thermostat and a motion detector. When someone came in the master bath, for example, the recirculating pump would turn on until the water in the lines was hot. This would provide instant hot water and not waste lots of water down the drain. The additional stand-by losses would only happen when there was likely to be someone needing hot water. Hot water recirculating systems are common. Controlling them with a motion detector is less common. The bottom line is this design would answer both the husbandÂs and the wifeÂs stated wants and would be appropriate to the size and expense of the house.

This sounds so much like my situation 5 years ago and if you were 25 years older I might think you were my ex husband's new wife. Don't blame the kid and don't blame his mom. Blame your 'husband'. My ex did this and in the end, his new wife won... She got him cause I was done with him. He would tell her that he was just trying to make me happy or keep me happy or that I was threatening him or that I was keeping him from seeing his child etc etc etc. Never true. He was getting his cake and eating it too. It all sounds so familiar and honey, it doesn't change nor does it stop. HE is lying to you. HE slept with someone else. HE ignored your calls. HE ignored your texts. No one else did that or made those decisions. Unfortunately, what it sounds like is he is still too young to be settled down(my ex was 35 so age really does not always have to be a factor) The hostility between you and your husband's ex will probably never end because you are fighting for the same man and neither one of you has realized yet that HE is NOT the last man on earth and that HE is not the answer to all of your dreams. There is happiness out there. This is not happiness. You just need to realize that you can be happy and that you need to make the decision to be happy. Being with a man that is still entangled with his ex(mother of his child) will never end well. He has moved on before completely that relationship. You see... I moved on. I found happiness. I found a man that was available mentally, emotionally and physically. Not still 'entangled' with his ex and their child. (he doesn't have an ex or a child) But MY ex is still with that same woman that is in your position and 5 years later they are no happier today than they were the first day they met. It's obvious that all of the lies and cheating and ignoring phone calls and texts, still haunts her or else she wouldnt have a problem allowing my ex to co parent with me about our daughter. He isn't even allowed to speak to me on the phone. She has to keep such a close eye on Him constantly and I can't imagine what kind of life that would be like. That you can't even trust your own man to visit family or to o to work or to go to the store because he might 'fall' and endin up sleeping with someone.... Think long and hard. You can get out of this and I am not a 'go get a divorce now' advocate but because I've been in a situation similiar and I see the misery that has followed these two for 5 long years, i can't think of any other solution for someone in your shoes. I'm SO sorry. This sucks. But on the other hand, I still can't understand why you married him and why you have to keep it quiet?? And take it from the ex wife ... If he isn't telling you what is going on with the parenting plan and just discussing with you what is going on, there probably is more to the story.

(((((Kitykat))))). Given that it's your daughter who told, I'll take back what I said about the gossip by #2. Having a trusted confidant is also important, and not the same as gossiping. I totally get what you meant about wanting to assess it on a rational level, but in doing so, it also created the false impression that #1, #2, and #3 are equals, like cousins or girlfriends so something. This is far more complicated than that. #1 and #2 are (should be) equals, but #1 + #2 are a unit disequal from #3. The relationship between #1 and #3 is also highly unequal to the relationship between #2 and #3. In this circumstance, if apologizing to the SIL will make your daughter's life easier, it's worth doing. I totally understand why you're disinclined to do so but it sounds like you daughter has more than she can cope with with him, and it's a small enough concession if it'll help her out. You could apologize for being rude. That's no skin off your nose, nor even a concession. If it will do nothing to ease your daughter's misery, no need to bother. Least said soonest mended.

If 'The Wisdom of Crowds' depends on the crowds, the crowd at the KT is the best! All of the three brands of behind-the-ear aids offered to me at Costco have 5-year warranties for parts and service, including re-programming. The cheapest is made in Vietnam; the other two, in Switzerland and Denmark. They are all sold in pairs. Costco's Kirkland Signature 9.0 aids ($1500) have non-rechargeable batteries, but batteries are cheap (48 for $9), and I'm still dexterous. The audiologist in the video I saw was dumbfounded that there's no charger and was sorry they'd eliminated the telecoil. (This has to be price constraints, but I'm not sure I'd miss either thing.) The other two brands sold by Costco ($2500 per pair) are rechargeable ($250 additional for the charger) and do have telecoils. One is made in Switzerland and one in Denmark. I so 'unconnected' (low-tech) that I don't know if I need telecoils. I don't listen to music or audiobooks (currently), and I can hear fine (currently) when using my cellphone. I need captions for TV though. Will I be a thousand dollars sorry not to have the telecoil?
