Writing a condolence card

I have bought the card, and mulled over the words to put into it. It is for a lady who lost her husband,he was 79.

I know them quite well, and the husband was such a lovely,kind, funny, thoughtful person. We worked together as volunteers, once a month for many years, so I got to know him quite well.

In the card I want to say something positive..not the "so sad for your loss" words. I want to convey words of hope, something like "I will come around and help you in the garden" sort of thing.

I just can't formulated the words...can you give me some ideas ?

Dear ......,
I have come to know both of you quite well, and wanted to say that I thought your husband (or his name) was such a lovely, kind, funny, thoughtful person. We worked together as volunteers, once a month, for many years, so I got to know him quite well. I treasure the time we spent together!

I would love to spend some time with you, too - please allow me to come and help you in the garden.

Then give her your name and phone number, so she can call you when she's ready to spend time with you.

Jim, I too am so sorry to hear of your loss. As one whose only children have all been four legged, I can sooooo relate. The only consolation I've ever found that salves the wound is the realization that the only way to miss the pain is to miss the dance. I've had so many wonderful partners over the years that I'd surely never have wanted to miss that. One of my little pom girls is named Faith. My wife had lost her once in a lifetime dog, another little girl pom named Miss T and I kept telling her that she had to have faith that God would mend her broken heart. I adore Faith but she can't ever be Miss T in my wife's eyes but she did help to heal the pain. Whenever I experience loss or am troubled by all the unfortunate recent circumstances that we see swirling around us, I find comfort in Paul's words in Romans 8:18. Perhaps you will as well. Take care and keep your chin up :-) I don't have any recent roses so here is one of my favs from earlier this year.

To install the reader you'll have to put the CD in your computer if you computer has a CD slot, or the disks if your computer is older and has a disk slot instead. After you put in the CD or disc you'l need to run them. Usually the computer will automatically run them, if not you'l have to open your computers "my computer icon" and select the CD or disc if you have a PC (Dell, HP, or other computer.) If ou have an Apple computer (Mac) the disc just appear on the main screen and you can run it that way. The reader-writer can be a little annoying. Don't pug it in until AFTER you run the CD or discs. Once the discs are installed, then you can plug in the reader-writer. he hardest part, really, is using the software to copy the designs to the card, but if you take your time exploring the software and reading the help information in the program, it's not too bad.

Lost my mom last year and I know that life is a powerful force so something definitely passes on into the next dimension. More than that I can't say, but I do feel my mom's presence all the time. It's just so hard, hard to say goodbye. But when you do go on living as you have to, you live as a testament to her love. Lots of love and hugs going your way from MI. I am sorry for your loss!

I have sent the card, a recycled paper card, as he was an environmentalist. He used to ride his bike to the shops, along busy roads, because he didnt want to burn fossils fuels. He also got solar panels on his roof, for their hot water needs. Such a wonderful person...I feel quite sad that I won't see him any more, but I guess its worse for his wife and children. He was one of those rare people who showed an interest in others and didn't talk about themselves the whole time. A charming man.

They had the funeral in their back yard because he didn't like funeral directors.

He brings a smile to my face, and always will.

Popi, what a lovely friendship - I know he will live on in your memory forever. That friendship and love is to be desired by EVERYONE!

Popi, I'm also sorry for your loss.......the only other thing I would suggest is not to wait for her to call you since people in grief often don't reach out and often don't want to bother others (because in their minds, they think they are).......you might want to give her a month and contact her, she would probably really appreciate that!
