Do you -EVER- come here to talk about anything pertaining to ORGANIC GARDENING? ...and about all the other stuff you make threads about in the Organic Gardening forum...which has more to do with large-scale commercial farming or processed commercial food production rather than organic gardening... Aside from misusing information you search for on Google, not knowing the difference between pseudo-science and actual science, and having very little idea how biotech or even chemical agriculture works...you have immersed yourself in the issue and pre-determined what you want to believe...only listening to what you want to hear, no matter how sketchy the source...even if it's dead wrong conspiracy crap. Even when things are explained fully and concisely to you...if it's not what you want to hear...it turns into a battle of "winning" rather than a quest for truth...even when the only person trying to "win" is you. Your attempts to discredit things you have NO IDEA what you're talking about is getting a little old...especially when you cling to anything you can get a hold of regardless of quality of source as some kind of counter-response that you insist must be on an equal ground even if it's coming from bad sources. Too many times when actually you get a decent source, you DON'T UNDERSTAND IT and misuse in an inappropriate situation or you don't grasp what's really going on with the given information. You are provided explanations yet you're only interested in winning a fight you have no idea how to battle rather than learning something. You don't want to learn...you want to complain, change the subject at many turns, and compete in some weird competition that you need to win at any cost. There's a forum for that...it's called Hot Topics and they love that kinda stuff there...but hey, whatever...post here....there's been worse here. Maybe one day you'll actually ask about or help someone with an organic GARDENING issue in between your cut/paste Google search conversations. This thread linked was one of my first run-ins with you, and this thread along with a slew of others really drove home how much this is a "competition to win" for you rather than a quest for knowledge. Just because you want to stay ignorant doesn't mean you should attempt to drag others down with you by flatly discrediting things you have NO IDEA OR TRAINING FOR WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT by backing your argument up with Google searched sources you insist must carry equal weight no matter how crazy/stupid/illegitimate the points they're making are...especially when it's pointed out how crazy/stupid/illegitimate they are. Yes Georgia-rose I heard about Danny coming our way. Thankyou for thinking about me. Hopefully Danny will turn away or just become wind and rain like Bill did. We actually did not get much, lots of high tides and surf. Moved some rocks from beaches and onto roads. A few flooded places. Ken the hosta were okay, got a good soaking after a long dry spell. Everything looks great. Wait and see what Danny does. The deer have done a lot of damage this year, first time I bought something to deter them. Just got home from Halifax 1/2 hr ago. Saw 5 deer in the backyard when we came up the driveway. I will tell my friend with the nursery that the stuff did not work. I will go back to planting a lot of daffodils. Maybe Danny will be good to us, afterall it is a family name as in my grandfather and my son, as well as many cousins. OH DANNY BOY. Betty

My less than 2 year old Whirlpool has the limited one year warranty. I would try and get them to pay for a new part and the labour on the KA. But our other appliances are Bosch (we live in Toronto - and our small bungalow's configuration did not allow for the depth of standard North American appliances - at the time). Just the fridge which is now a problem due to height - how I wish we had a tall Bosch fridge sitting under shorter cupboards. But with our Bosch - they only covered the parts - not the labour - and we had problems with both the dishwasher and the oven in year 2 - and the labour somehow cost the same as the part. Go figure that one. Re the GE fridge - we had the exact problem with our former fridge a GE - starting at age 8 - they replaced the fan - after we went through losing 3 loads of food because the less than competent technician decided it was the tubing. A supervisor realized it was the fan and fixed it. We got 2 more years out of it - so 10 years in total. You will find other people on this forum who had the same GE fridge - and it died at 8 years. Now this at 1 year and 7 months. Make sure about the height - this is now - and was - our major concern and why we have the Whirlpool. We could have bought the identical fridge in Kitchenaid - it had a deli drawer - so an extra $100 - we don't eat deli - thankfully - because people have reported leaking deli drawers. We also need stainless steel so a problem. Hope you find something that works for your Mom. I am eyeing our Whirlpool with an evil eye. If it can't be fixed I am not paying a fee for it to be returned to Whirlpool or a store to be sold "refurbished"! If only they would check the fan and/or the control panel. A major Cdn. appliance retailer has stopped selling all Whirlpool and KA products. Another doesn't sell either brand - and won't. I have been busy. Basically, the quality is not nearly what it was - since I am old I remember when...

I can't let that statement stand without some comment. Schreader leak problem -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From another site I won't name: "Purchase yourself a core removal tool which will allow you to replace the schreader core without pumping down the system. This will work providing the valve has adequate clearence around it to accommodate the core removal tool. Some advice on the tool - Don,t over tightened the knurled nuts on the tool. Use only sufficient pressure so the connection doesn't leak, but don't crank down on them, the core won,t pass through the gasket. I use the J/B brand, but I"m sure there are other brands that will work equally as well. Be sure to use a touch of compressor or vacuum pump oil on the removal tool slide and sealing gaskets, helps it to last longer and seal up easier, good luck." This was in response to someone posting a question of removing the core without a pumpdown. If you can get your hose on a unit's schraeder valve you probably can get your handy dandy core remover tool on the fitting and extract the old core without releasing any refrigerant. Simply insert a new core in and use the tool as provided in the instructions and the new core screws in nicely. It has worked for me on more than one occassion. I, however, don't have thousands of units experience but I can say that I have found a few older units where the scraders are so inaccessible that even a hose low loss fitting can't be hooked up. For that you need another fitting made for those difficult to access engineers brain farts. Sorry Bob, you made it sound like removing a core without a pump down is an impossible task. That is misleading tho I don't doubt that you have had trouble accomplishing this. Because you said that was so.
