I have been to Highpoint a couple of times and really enjoyed looking around. I cannot recommend one place in particular, as they all have different items that could work together for a more informal look. I would love to have $$$ to buy up new stuff for my second home, but the sloppy seconds will have to do for now! Have fun.

There are a lot of options in Highpoint. Tough to narrow it down to one, I enjoyed visiting as many showrooms as I could in two days.

Perhaps one of the books on NC shopping would help you with a shopping strategy.

I have been and one day was not enough BUT if you already know what you want and are just shopping on price, then you can call a couple of places and get about the same pricing as if you actually went with the exception of a few select manufacturers

I've bought furniture from Rose Furniture twice and was very pleased with them. I went to the one on the main road in High Point. I live in North Carolina and saved alot of money buying from them instead of buying from my local furniture store.

I have been to High Point twice. The first time I went was overwhelming because we didn't know what were the best stores to shop at. The second time was much more profitable because we knew the right places to go and spent less time driving around. I would recommend Boyles furniture. We had a designer named Stacy Yow who was super helpful and had great taste. Also, we did well at Adam's Furniture. They have more English style furniture. Besides, their main showroom, they have a discount showroom also we found 12 great dining chairs for a wonderful price, solid mahogany with beautiful carving and caning. Furnitureland south is also worth going to, they have a huge design room with lots of books and fabric swatches, also a huge selection of leather sofas and outdoor patio furniture(and everything else you could want). If I were to go back again, and I certainly would like to if my DH will agree to it, I would spend all my time at those place and not waste my time driving around like we did on the first trip.

We also found a great barbeue spot, Carter Brother's barbeque. We actually ate there every night on our second trip to High Point because we enjoyed it so much. We didn't like staing at the Fairfield inn in High Point though because their beds were lousy and the walls so thin the place was just noisy. Take my advice and stay somewhere where you will sleep good because you will be making alot of important decisions when you are there.

Just returned from second trip to HP, useful tips- do your research prior to going as it is overwhelming if you do not know what you are looking for or manufacturers you are interested in. Boyles, Rose and Furnitureland South have good web sites to see different furniture lines, Drexel and Thomasville each have their own websites with lots of pictures and information. (Those companies have their own stores in the high point area) Major furniture manufacturers have their own websites you can print pictures from and take with you. Jot down dimensions and information, bring a scaled drawing of your room, samples of fabrics and paint colors that are already in your home. The chamber of commerce will send you a booklet with all furniture stores in the HP area and a listing of the manufacturers each carries.In Hickory the furniture mall will send you their own booklet. Most companies and furniture stores are in both areas and it does not really matter where you go, Hickory or HP you will find the same stuff. Then make your plan on which ones you will visit. The stores are huge and take a good few hours to get through each one. They are set up to show each manufacturer in a separate area, so if you are interested in Century or Stanley, you can browse that specific room, jot down the number of the item and then sit down with a salesperson for pricing. They will also help do furniture placement, fabric selection etc. They all price match. I got the lowest price from Rose but did not care for their showrooms or their salesperson and ended up shopping elsewhere but they gave me the same price as Rose as did the others. You cannot bargain hunt or price shop for certain lines(Drexel) but most you can. Each store has their own clearance stores and there you will find great one of a kind pieces with great pricing. Furniture land south has a huge clearance warehouse behind the regular store, Rose has one down the street from the regular store,(not on Main) Wood-armfield(nice showroom in downtown in the mall) has one with Utility craft. As does Kagan's, who has contemporary style, on the Main Street. These will be listed with a map in the Chambers Booklet they send.In Hickory, Hollingate in the mall has discounted samples of Century furniture and good prices. I have done 2 houses this way, found it to be cheaper, better selection and had no problem with delivery etc. You need at least 3 days there to do it right. I spent 4 and still could have used 1 more. any questions I will be happy to answer

We've bought furniture from Rose and was extremely pleased. Good customer service as well. I've been to the High Point furniture expo and it's quite overwhelming. So much to see in only a few days. I agree with other posts that it's difficult to narrow down, but there IS something for everyone. If you go, wear really comfy shoes as you'll be walking alot.
