I purchased a lot from Black's Furniture a couple years ago.

My main complaint with them was the delivery. Damaged dining room table 3 X's and Damaged Desk, 3 X's. They also damaged 1 piece in my son's bedroom, and then when they re-delivered, they left the piece at another customers. The delivery people they used were TERRIBLE. They didn't put together the pieces, and were very unprofessional compared to Boyles. Now typing this... I realize that I myself would not order from them again because although their prices were often a little better - it was too much stress, and I didn't get my dining room, desk or son's furniture for a FULL 6 months!

My that was a bad experience. I bought Amish furniture for my dining area. Though a little pricey, the quality is great. So is the service of the folks. The piece is so well made, it is amazing. I am not gonna need to buy another dining table for a long long time.

Think long and twice about some of the advice that you receive here! Try calling the company and asking them questions, and requesting references, advise, whatever!!

Make sure you know the terms of sale and get all that in writing before handing over any money. Discuss what happens when things go wrong. Read these forums for problems people have had, and use those as specific examples. What if the colors don't match? What if there's a small nick or gouge?

Find out about how servicing is handled. Minor blemishes happen, but how will they stand behind the product? At what point is it considered "acceptable quality" and for minor things will you have to make arrangements for a refinisher? Will you be reimburesed?

Recourse through your credit card company gets tougher as time goes by, you'll have to ask your CC issuer about your rights and time limits. If things drag on six months your CC issuer may not help you to the same extent. Use the CC that you do most of your puchasing with, you WILL get better backup if things go bad. You may have to make final payment by check. Find that out first.

When the furniture comes check out everything in detail, like you were checking your kids head for lice. Look as its being carried in so you can see the underside. My Shermag dresser came with a cracked bottom piece, probably left China in that condition. The only way I knew is because I carried it in myself and saw the bottom. Anyways, if damage isn't noted on the shipping papers, it may not be taken care of.

So in short make sure your comfortable with the way they do business. Make sure you know your avenues of recourse before any problems occur.

I purchased an entire house full of furniture from Blacks furniture about 3 years ago. I had no problems whatsoever (only 1 piece arrived damaged--a headboard--which was replaced in a timely manner). Black's prices were the most competitive of the companies I called and the delivery was as promised. I would use them again.

Back in June I ordered a'lot of furniture from Black's. Five months later my husband and I received the furniture; however, the sofa and chair we received were the wrong ones. The settee we ordered arrived damaged, which also had to be sent back. Okay, now it's been 2 months since we returned the furniture and STILL haven't received one call from Black's Furniture to let us know the estimated time of arrival for our furniture after many messages left on their voice mail. Overall, we ordered furniture 7 months ago and are still waiting on half of our furniture. NOT WORTH THE MONEY SAVED!!

If so, call them and lodge a complaint, you would be surprised how fast some of these companies will jump when they know there whole business creditability is on the line. Just make sure you document everything when you buy, honestly!!
