Rowe Furniture: Good or Bad?
Comments (119)We purchased the Sylvie Sectional through our designer earlier this year. It finally arrived after 6 months and within weeks it looked awful. The fabric pills and is even coming apart at some seams. The cushions do not hold their shape and we already had them replaced by the company as a "one time favor." The seat cushions are so unsupportive and just sink. It's truly embarrassing to have this couch when all of our other furniture is so nice. People ask us if it is our old couch since our remodel. I'm not exaggerating when I say that our IKEA sectional lasted us and was more comfortable than this sectional that we spent over 7k on. We are so disappointed and left with no recourse. I will never again buy a Rowe or Robin Bruce product. This was supposed to last us 10 years and it's barely made it a few months....See MoreNC Furniture Companies
Comments (7)Make sure you know the terms of sale and get all that in writing before handing over any money. Discuss what happens when things go wrong. Read these forums for problems people have had, and use those as specific examples. What if the colors don't match? What if there's a small nick or gouge? Find out about how servicing is handled. Minor blemishes happen, but how will they stand behind the product? At what point is it considered "acceptable quality" and for minor things will you have to make arrangements for a refinisher? Will you be reimburesed? Recourse through your credit card company gets tougher as time goes by, you'll have to ask your CC issuer about your rights and time limits. If things drag on six months your CC issuer may not help you to the same extent. Use the CC that you do most of your puchasing with, you WILL get better backup if things go bad. You may have to make final payment by check. Find that out first. When the furniture comes check out everything in detail, like you were checking your kids head for lice. Look as its being carried in so you can see the underside. My Shermag dresser came with a cracked bottom piece, probably left China in that condition. The only way I knew is because I carried it in myself and saw the bottom. Anyways, if damage isn't noted on the shipping papers, it may not be taken care of. So in short make sure your comfortable with the way they do business. Make sure you know your avenues of recourse before any problems occur....See MoreLexington, Elite and Boyles Furniture Companies
Comments (4)Sorry-FLS is Furnitureland South, I bought a master BR set and DR set from them 8 years ago for my current house, and they had great prices, but not so anymore. Back then there were certainly fewer online distributers.. BUT what a great place to go through..in High Point, think over 1million Sq feet! took us 2 days our first trip.. seriously! I went back and checked my facts and for the above 2 sofas, their price(FLS) would have been 21% more than I paid at Elite. My local 'discount' store 37%! more...(NOT a fancy store.. operates out of a large home... jeez. I have a local service business and would love to support local business, and would GLADLY pay a little more to do. If I could have ordered the same stuff for 200$ more locally I would have done so, but these price differences were significant!! I have been dealing with Cheryl at Elite, and she has been very helpful. They do accept credit cards. They take 1/2 upon order, then the balance when they give the furniture to the delivery company. I also went back and checked my records regarding the delivery. Elite charged my balance due on 9/18, and my furniture was delivered on Oct 14, almost a month. I thought this a little excessive, but I do understand with the way gas prices were then, they didn't want to leave with less than a full load. Because they were able to pick up that other very heavy piece, I actually saved another 150-200 in shipping charges, but all in all my shipping charges were 1200+. Duane Collie is a person who I think owns a furniture store out east. I have never dealt with him personally, but have read many of his posts and used his advice. He has a very good reputation on these boards, and I think he knows a lot about Hancock and Moore. Just do a search for him in this forum. There was just a very recent post about him and there are always people asking for his help on something. He seems to be very honest in his answers.....See MoreAnyone ever shopped at NC furniture outlets?
Comments (15)Bee, yes. That is the company. I actually considered the Claudia, which is the same as the Chloe but in leather, when purchasing but went with the Blair instead since it was much more comfortable and better suited for everyday use. The reviews online are great and one of the sales people(not the person selling it to me) even told me that he had never had complaints in the many years that they have carried that line. That had to be a blatant lie. In less than a year I have gone through three of these sofas (my story with them is a loooong one) - three different issues. As I said, I did not expect the sofa to last me a lifetime, but I certainly expected more than six months of use from it. I would not advise anyone to purchase furniture from this company. You may have a wonderful experience with the sofa, but you may also have a year of nightmares which will end in you having to find a replacement. I have found many sites with complaints about their furniture - after my problems began and I performed a search of course. If you do decide to go ahead with the purchase and happen to have problems that the regular furniture and bedding customer service will not help you with, let me know and I will be more than happy to give you their corporate customer service number. Had I not called corporate, I would probably still be waiting on a replacement cushion on the sleeper sofa (same Blair group) that was originally purchased. The up-side is that I get to hang on to their dreadful sofa until the replacement is delivered. I am scared of buying anything new regardless of the manufacturer, because you just never know. I am very tempted to buy an older (retro/vintage) sectional and have it reupholstered. I have seen a few that I like. My thought is that if it lasted for 20 years or more and is still in great shape, then it will probably last another 20....See Moredjd56
