I get them, too. Thousands of them. As stated above, they are no trouble in the lawn. Once decapitated, they don't come back. Try to pull them out of the garden beds before they get more than four or so leaves - they very quickly develop a root system and yanking them later, although easier, will disturb the soil around your plants. They will sprout in damp mulch but do come out very easily. I've even had them grow in just a tiny bit of guttercrud in the eavestroughs. These things seem endless but are usually conquered by end of June :)

I have several black mission trees that are doing the same thing, and I am in a zone 10 area as well. This is occuring on leaves as they yellow and are about to drop due to impending (semi) dormancy. I say "semi" because my trees do not appear to go fully dormant as temps rarely dip below the mid 40's and it almost never freezes here. I have new growth in the form of leafs and new figlets sprouting even now, in mid December, while last year's leaves are about half gone. Since the rust is appearing on leaves only as they yellow and prepare to drop, my uneducated opinion is that it doesn't really matter all that much. Maybe Herman, Dan or Al will weigh in on this.

Thank you for the links, I just bought some from kens link (30). I am tempted to do 100 for 100 that is a on of hostas, how do you handle that many? I have 500 hosta seeds planted indoors and another 600 showed up today, I expected low germination because I've never grown hosta from seed but we will see how they turn out. 12 are up from the first set of 50 I did. Question, what do you think will go good with hostas in my area? I was thinking ferns, I can get those for free if i dig them. maybe my hosta growing will inspire others in my neighborhood to grow some, and by then I might have a good amount of hosta babies for them to start off if a lot of my seeds germinate. An extra long won't feel any different than the same model in regular twin length of 75 inches. A twin won't feel any different than the same model and construction in the king or queen size model. As with all things, comfort is personal, and price is usually indicative of quality. ......and often comfort, but not always. It's a third of your life for the next decade. Divide is my advice, based on that. Thus...even 5 k over ten years is 500.00 per year for that third of your life. What do you spend on a car, as I doubt you spend eight hours a day in that machine : )?
