Asian Market Adventure

Today was my day to journey to Raleigh to pick up 15 pounds of Chinese broccoli for our office Chinese New Year celebration next week. Our company has a manufacturing plant in Souzhou, China and we are celebrating with them.....um...a few days late.

I went to Grand Asia Market in Raleigh along with lots of Asian, Indian, Thai and a few Southerners. I came home with these photos and lots of noodles, sauces, condiments, spices, rice, etc.

The market front, hidden away at the back of a shopping center, conveniently just off I-40:

lanterns on the ceiling

lots of greens in the produce section

{{gwi:1496738}}

golden melon, large red grapes and plums

{{gwi:1496739}}

kumquats

{{gwi:1496740}}

tangerines, on the stem, a fruit for the New Year

need some rice?

{{gwi:1496742}}

beautiful pastries and buns.....but how do they taste?

{{gwi:1496743}}

dragon fruit.....interesting!

There is a small restaurant in the market called the Joy Luck Club. After my first round of shopping I stopped for some steamed buns and pot stickers. The buns were too much bread for my taste, but the pot stickers were delicious.

Can't wait to go back to this market again - now that I know how to get there and what they carry!
