I don't use it as often as I did. But if I remember correctly, you have to register with Facebook or Twitter. If you don't have one of those accounts then a member of pinterest can "Invite" you, which is a faster way of being accepted.

I use Google Image, usually when I'm looking for something specific and I run across something I think would look good on Pinterest.

I click on the picture, copy the html, then go to my Pinterest page and "Add Picture", and paste the html into the category I choose.

I'm not very good at pinterest....I don't seem to get it....my pinterest page is full of stuff I don't want and when I do try to pin something I do want, I don't seem to be able to retrieve it...so if I find something in pinterest or someone I want to follow, I just bookmark it...so much easier.

I have boards for different topics: food, quotes, backyard, dining room{{gwi:807}}, books, travel, etc. If I find something on the web I like, a recipe or a table or a place to visit, I pin it in that board. It makes searching and organizing things so much easier than having to slog through hundreds of bookmarks. Of course, I could arrange my bookmarks in topics as well, but I like Pinterest's photo interface. I like being able to see everything all at once.

I'm a very active Pinterest user. I too have many different boards, and it's been especially helpful for my DD's wedding. Because both my girls and my sister are on Pinterest, I can share the boards with them.

You can install an icon on your dashboard for pinning-that way you just click on that icon when you're at the website you wish to pin from, then you can pin whatever image you want to where you want on Pinterest. It's really, really simple.

There is a new search feature on Pinterest where you can search your own pins, but I' haven't used it yet.

You can see others boards that have pinned a pin you choose, and then you can peruse their boards or decide to follow their boards if you choose. When you follow a board, new posts to that board will show up on your home page. I follow several people, but not all their boards, so I like that you can choose to follow just what you want and not have your home page clog up with things you don't care about. Sometimes you'll be automatically set up to follow a board or a pinner, but you can easily unfollow them.

I like that I can chose a topic, say Home Decor and pins that are specifically in that category will show-from there if I see something that interests me, I can then look at the board that contatins that pin, or by clicking on the pin, will be taken to the website of the pin and I can explore from there.

I like to think of Pinterest as a super easy search engine, it's a lot easier than Googling something!

I find it very frustrating to use for two reasons. First, there are too many duplicate results when you search. Second, there are too many products that are unavailable, either because they are discontinued or because they are not for sale in North America. I would rather digitally clip a picture or recipe and save it on my cloud drive. It's much easier for me to organize and retrieve.

I don't think you need to have a twitter or facebook account any longer. I think they've changed that. I like it for keeping track of things I like - I will be moving soon, and have a board where I pin anything I think I would like to remember for my new place. The drapes I want, pics of kitchens I like, a video on how to propagate clematis from cuttings so I can take some of my plants along with me, etc. Also have a board for helpful hints that I may not need now but may use in the future. Also lots of recipes. Also follow some pinners just for the pleasure of looking at their pics, such as Italian Summers - her pins are just a joy to look at!

I don't use the search function at all. I use the icon pesky described to pin directly from websites. If I want to repin something from one of the people I'm following, I go back to the source and pin from there.

I love pinterest. I don't find it difficult to use at all. Do ya'll have the "pin it" button on your tool bar? Then when you are on whatever site on the web, you just click the "pin it" button and you can pin your image to one of your Pinterest boards. I have boards set up for fabric, pillows, rooms I like, outside, different holiday ideas, etc. I even have a bead board set up. I also have a couple of private boards set up. To me, it's just like a notebook of things I've found on the web that I want to keep - without an actual hardcopy. Oh and as Gail mentioned, I have a recipe board. Love that! I can stand my ipad or nook up in the kitchen and go right to my recipe.

I think I use it primarily like Pesky, Gail, and geokid.... if I'm shopping, looking at home decor, recipes, etc. I can 'pin' items that I want to save or be able to look at again later onto my appropriate boards for easy access / organization. My favorte board right now is for summer cocktail recipes I want to try. :)

I've never been able to find the "Pin It" button unless the website itself has one.

My favorite boards are for Christmas decorations. I've gotten so many ideas from Pinterest that I've used.

Actually, now is the time many start adding Christmas decorations! lol

I have a Pinterest account, but have never "pinned" anything. Oddly, I have about 10 people "following" me. :)

My hairstylist got me hooked to set up an account to post potential haircuts for me.

You can sign up with an email account. You don't have to link to FB or Twitter. I don't use FB and my Twitter is a professional feed, so no one needs to see my haircut ideas.

I've also started boards for outdoor/yard and then home office ideas.

I follow other decorating boards and then Rachael Ray, Big Chill Fridges, and I saw a MadMen site yesterday, too.

Ok, maybe you can help me. I like Sarah Petrey and would like to have her stuff show up on my page. I've followed her, but when I open pinterest, I get a page full of all kinds of stuff from all kinds of people that I could care less about and don't seem to be able to get rid of any of it. How and where would her stuff show up?

Annie - if you switch your page to show only pins from those who you are following - then you won't see all of the other stuff. I think up on the upper left hand side of the page there is an icon with a few lines on top of each other - if you click on that you can choose to view everything, popular, or home feed. You want to click on home feed. It will just show the pins of people you are following.

Thanks gail, that helped some. I've also unfollowed a few and that seems to help, but it's still a big mess.

Is there a way to follow someone on a particular board? By this I mean, if I create a board for recipes, can I follow, say, Sarah's recipes on my board...and follow her kitchens on my own kitchen board?

I think you can just follow them from your main pinterest page but you can follow just certain boards rather than entire pinterest pages. There are a few pinners who I am only interested in one or two of their boards so only follow those.

I enjoy pinterest but have learned I can't just quickly bop in to retrieve something I've pinned. I go in for the chicken recipe I pinned last month and end up browsing for an hour.

I find it handy to go back to an article or manufacturer I didn't have time to read earlier. It is also a good way for me to see what is trending in the home decor world too.

It's fun following friends from gw though at times I forget who is who if the Pinterest names don't match the GW names.
